Hello All
History: I had Louis send me a pair of the Super 3i back in April 2015. Drove them with an APPJ PA0901A amp from several sources through an Niles AXP-1 audio selector swtich. I want to state here that I was very, very happy with the sound of the Omegas.
Sources included restored Sony PS-X55 TT w/ Denon DL110 cart through a Bellari VP130 to the switch, TV optical out to a converter box to the switch, and I think I had a bluetooth receiver to the switch as well. Most of my "listening" was through the TV and I was burning through tubes. Decided to simplify and switched to Emotiva PT-100 preamp and A-150 power amp and ending up selling the Omegas replaced by a pair of Tannoy Revolution XT 6. Also chucked the Bellari VP130 for a Lounge Audio LCRMKIII w/ silver wire upgrade. Added a Rythmik Audio F12 sub and recently a Bluesound Node 2i.
When the time came I needed some cheap desktop speakers for my desk at work to help with some phone message recordings, after some research, I ordered a pair of Kef Q100 and drove them with an SMSL AD18. I love the Q100s. I found I loved the coaxial time alignment and imaging. The AD18 I did not like so much, although the inputs options are good. I did buy a second AD18 to run a set of Fluance SX6Ws in my garage/shop.
Fast forward to Feb 2020, my company says "work from home indefinately due to Covid". I needed to set a real desk up quick. Set up consists of 13" MacBook Pro > LG 43UN7300PUF UHD 43" "monitor" (way better than it sounds as it equals essentially 4 21.5" 1080p screens, desk 30" deep), HDMI ARC > Bluesound Powernode 2i > Kef Q100s w/ an SVS SB-12 NSD crossed over about 80Hz. I also get Tidal on the Powernode 2i.
In Sept 2020 the company says people who are capable of working from home should continue to do so. In Nov it was determined that people like me needn't worry about going back to the office ever.
On a normal day I'm at the desk working about 12 hours. Then I also have my Xbox hooked up here so between afterhours computing and video games I'm siting here about 16 hours 7 days a week. I've done the math and of the 12 working hours I'm on scheduled conference calls on average almost 5 hours a day, when you figure in impromptu calls its more than that. I'm a North America (not just USA) End User Services IT mgr for a global company.
Why all the detail? I've gotta get more comfortable here and I want that Omega full range, lucious mid-range back. So I'm planning a massive desk overhaul.
Home office room details with planned changes/upgrades: Bigger desk 74"Wx42"D, M1 Mac Mini > Samsung QN50Q80T QLED 50" (it'll be like 4 24.5" monitors) > HDMI ARC > Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 (mostly doing this to get Room Perfect and "Voicings" by input type/source), ?speakers? and keeping the sub. Planning some room treatments as well - something like 48 sq ft of wall coverage with 1" thick panels, no bass traps. I know it's not much, but with the size of the room and being very nearfield, plus low listening volume it's debatable whether it will make a difference anyway.
Office is 11'2" X 9'10" with 8ft ceilings, approx 878.4 cu ft.
Listening: 1/3 of the time it's conference calls, 1/3 is music which is mostly indie stuff but I've listen the tracks I usually use to test set up and system changes below, and the last 1/3 is mostly TV and video games.
Sitting about 38"-42" from the speakers with iPhone dB app never showing above 70, usually at about a max of 67.5 dB.
I use these tracks to "test" things... (Mostly from what I call my "Sad Bastard" Playlist)

There are some electronic bass heavy tracks on that list and I do have a budget, kind of "musical" sub, but I would not call myself a basshead by any stretch.
Get to the questions already, right?
1) I think I want to have Louis make me a pair of CAMs that is front ported - pretty close the wall. They wont be too big for my desk, but will they be too big for my room?
2) I know most of you all pair Omegas with tube amps, as I did the Super 3i, but with running around 16 hours a day 7 days a week tubes just aren't going to work. Plus I need to get the signal out of the Mac & TV without having converter boxes and switch all over my desk. How do you think the Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 will sound with CAMs? I know there probably aren't a lot of folks listening to Omegas on Lyngdorf amps so this is more of the theoretical question.
