Seems good news, what is the time life from this tube?

I actually don't know. They are very well made. The pair I have has been used in a stage buffer and preamp for about 5 years. They still sound wonderful. I guess their useful life depends on the circuit design.

6sn7? 6922?, 6H30?

I may be in the market for a new preamp. You're thoughts would be helpful

Thanks
Emil

well.......since my ARC LS28 has 4 6H30Pi's, it's got my vote.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

To avoid headache my suggestion are stay away from expensive tubes, ''special'' tubes versions and rare tubes a long with tubes that have few subs. Said that the small tube have more versions I know are 6922:
6N1P Versions:
6N1P 6N2P 6922 6H30 6DJ8 7DJ8 7308 PCC88  ECC88  E88CC  E288CC  6N1 6H23P-EB, Siemens 8223  GA7  CV5358 5670

6N1P have the warmest tone,
6N2P more dinamic than 6N1P,
6922 have the best dynamics,
6DJ8 have the most air and micro-detail with a touch less bass.
7DJ8 again, a powerful tool for voicing your amplifier to your particular tastes.

deHavilland Ultraverve, preferably the 3 since it comes with the Kara Chaffee designed 32 step remote relay volume control.  It runs both halves of a 6sn7 so you only need one.  Much easier and cheaper to find than a matching pair. :singing:

Please try the 300B mesh from EML if you are up for the investment.

Just curious if channel saparation will be affected when both use the same tube. Modwright LS100 also uses half 6sn7, but one tube per channel.

No affect.  Each 1/2 acts as it's own circuit, however, if the tube is microphonic or noisy both channels will perform poorly.  I test my own tubes for noise and match sections within 300-400 micromhos.
