Hi,
im looking for which products help with power line noise aka noise at the wall outlet. I have tried ps audio noise harvestors they are a joke only remove 5 to 8mv out of your line which is maybe 0.5 to 1% of noise in the line. I have tried greenwave filters they start off good by dropping noise around 85 to 90% in the lines but then it seems like a few days later the noise goes back up again so they are meh.  Puritan Guardians remove around 100 to 125mv of noise maybe around 25-30% noise reduction in my outlets or power strips. The best ones so far have been Alan Maher stuff which brings down the noise to 44 or 45mv which is 92%+ reduction in noise. Alan stuff is sadly sold out for maybe a year so need to find some good alternatives to plug in power line noise filters. Already have some EP 2750 ground filters being installed at the circuit breaker panel for my home audio and computer circuits but those only filter out ground noise and only on the circuits its installed into.

Sounds like you need something more substantial, like a regenerator. Not going to be cheap.

You could make your own A/C with battery and inverter. I posted what you'd need and estimated cost here.

That's what a power conditioner does. You've been playing with toys. For a good power conditioner, prepare to spend about $2K. And for a regenerator, that's gonna cost even more. The challenge with power conditioners is that you have to try a few of them to determine which ones work best in your environment.

A year late, but for others with similar AC power quality questions:
a] is the problem 24 by 7 by 365, or does it come and go?
b] is the problem in outlets of several rooms or just a few?
c] treating at the wall outlet is the wrong place! Much of the noise can be generated by the hi-fi components. Noise should be addressed as close to the chassis of each component as possible.
d] noise should be measured at the audio output of the hi-fi component or system.

I have done about 10 hours of reading about power conditioners over the past several days, in dozens of forums and publication reviews, and regarding your point a), I found it interesting that some have said the system was better in the day, and worse at night, and others the complete opposite: worse in the day and better at night.

I suppose it depends on where you live, and how close your lines are too the other dirty lines and sources.

A good example of better day/worse night is a completely residential area, where the majority of homes have their people not home in the day, but they all return around 4-6 pm and all the A/C systems come on, along with the ovens, TV's, they do laundry etc.

A good example of the opposite is some home near industrial areas, where all the huge power consumption motors and machines essentially stop at the end of the day, and then even better if most homes don't have A/C.

Power conditioning must be the most system dependent of all the components in hifi, so comparisons between Bill in Florida's experience with power conditioner X vs. Y, compared to Mike in Vancouver BC should not be as conclusive as comparisons between speaker cables for example. But if they both claim substantial sound quality improvements I suppose that is pretty conclusive!
