Friends,

I guess they're not "snake oil" after all. :green:

See here:

I didn't think I was going completely crazy when I heard the improvement that the Black Boxes (Aether Audio version) and the Magic Cubes made.  Contrary to Franks comments though, it doesn't take a genius to figure out what they are doing... or otherwise they wouldn't exist in the first place!

It does take a bit of research though.  If anybody is interested, what I believe (but have yet to prove) to be the "source" of the problem that the BBs/MCs correct for can be found here:

In the mean time, I guess I do have to say I feel a bit "vindicated," and wish to thank everyone that has supported me in the Black Box/magic Cube effort. :thumb:

Now... everybody go out and buy a pair so I can afford to get my leaky roof fixed!

Take care,  :D

It was nice meeting you at CES.

I'd like to try those "Magic Cubes" or "Black Boxes" on the system you heard in our Show booth.  If I like 'em I'll report about it here, and buy a pair (on one of those cheap industry accommodations, of course).  Or send you some shingles.

Brian,

Thanks for stopping in!  It was really great meeting you too - and what a cool demo you had in your room this year! :thumb:

I was there and heard the artists perform before you played back the recording.  It was almost "freaky" how the playback through your speakers was essentially indistinguishable from the live music!

And... you were very kind to take the time out of your busy show schedule to talk to me.  Believe me, I know how hectic shows can be.  The least I can do is to "hook you up" with some Black Boxes.  After all, if they work on your speakers I'll be rich... what with all of the folks out there that own your speakers!  :o

Just write me at aetheraudio@gmail.com and well get 'er worked out.

Take care,
-Bob

email sent.  Maybe we can get rich selling stuff to each other.

I have redbook CD's cut from the hard drives of our 24/88.2  and 5.6 MHz DSD recorders if you'd like to hear Napua Davoy all over again.  She was amazing. I'll never do a CES without live music for comparison again, it's the only true test.

It would be interesting to have a comparison of some of the various "enhancers" out there.  Besides the NuForce Magic Cube, some others that come to mind are the Acoustic Research TDS202 (aka TDS Sound Enhancement Sound System) and the Yaqin tube buffer.
