Christmas came early!!
« on: 21 Dec 2007, 08:40 pm »
Hi all,

Well as promised, my Continuum 2.5 IIIs arrived and are set up and playing some wonderful music. To my surprise they were delivered on Thursday, a day earlier than scheduled.  The BAT VK-600SE and Continuum 2.5s have shaken hands and I think they are going to be very, very good friends.  aa

They are being used with the following equipment:

Source:  Marantz SA7-S1
Preamp-  BAT VK-52SE
Amp-      BAT VK-600SE
Cables-   Stealth XLR Meta Carbon, Anti-Cables (speaker)
Power-   Michael Wolff Bohica I & II and Viola I & II
Power-   PS Audio Power Plant Premier, Topaz 5 kVa Isolation Transformer
Stands-  Grand Prix Audio Monaco
Room-    Multiple Real Trap products

Wooow! Very Nice.... So how do they sound out of the box? Plus they come in 4 boxes? And how do they lock together?

Thanks for all the nice comments.  I just paused from several hours of listening and they are sounding REALLY good. Everything I loved about the SP Tech sound burned into my brain from my previous Continuums, but lots of great new things now as well.

Listening to Muddy Waters Folk Singer on SACD just blew my socks off.  Best I have heard it.  Hairs on my arms were standing up.

I have a lot more listening to do, but I can say Bob, Jason, and Kartsen have been busy and these babies can SING.

George- as always, for the past several years, I welcome and wait for your ears  :notworthy:

Hey Chris- wait until you hear your Rave discs........................ :thumb:

Glenn- room looks and feels WAY better.  In this case less is definitely more.

Frank,

The room does look a lot bigger with the SP Tech's and the new paint job.

I am sure it scores a lot higher on the WAF scale.   :thumb:

Get those suckers burned in so I can hear them at their best.   aa

I had a couple of Walker 1 inch resonance control discs laying around and thought they looked nice on top of the speaker.

Mike :)

Mike-  the top of the 2.5 slides onto the base by a large tongue shaped groove (raised tongue part is on the base, notch on the top).  Once it slides to the back it's pretty snug and then a small piece of Walnut (2" x 12") screws in and straddles the top and bottom, joining the two.  It's pretty solid once completed and looks really nice as well.

I like it a lot better as well.  The WAF is very high now and God bless her for all the things I've done to that room over the years.  Besides making the room look a lot better, I sold off a lot of high priced gear with no discernible loss (actually a few improvements) in sound quality, and gained in other (non performance) areas as well.

Could you tell us all a little about the last pair of speakers you had that the Continuum 2.5s are replacing?  I'm sure a lot of folks would find that interesting.  I know I do. 8)

Thanks! :D

My last pair of speakers were the Evolution Acoustics MM Three.

Here are a few images of them in my room..............

The Evolution were/are 38K arent they? Are you saying that the Continuums are an improvement over those speakers!!!
Mike

Not that price is always a determination of quality...
