OK I reckon I am somewhere west of Charlotte in Kings Mounting.... What now????
-
Looks like you could host an event for Charlotte and Western NC :D
-
Touche or whatever... We have just moved into the area.... Give me a spell to get the man cave set up and it could happen......
-
I'm going to be hosting a audiophile gathering in Sept probably. No date specific yet.
-
I'm just south of Charlotte, NC and I'm enjoying the hell out of some tubes right now.
Dodd, Jolida, Anthem through a pair of Tyler Acoustic's Taylos 7U's.
JQP, If you are looking for a location in Western NC, I definitely have a spot that is worthy of your consideration. Between 4 to 100 folks? It'll accommodate....rather well, might I add.
-
Add another Greensboro dot to the map (me).
-
Don't forget Chapel Hill :D :D
-
Asheboro...as well :)!
-
Chadbourn NC here..country boy!
-
I am new to the area. Just moved here from Illinois. I am living in Winston-Salem.
My system consists of a set of Gedlee Nathan's as well as three of his subs. If anyone is interested in a listen then send me a PM.
Look forward to meeting some of you guys soon!
-
Goskers! Welcome, welcome, welcome! I am within one hour from you, and I would love to come over for a listen and bring you over some brew. PM me and let me know, loved your review of course of the Nathans on Earl's website. My Abbeys are on order...
Anand (near Boone, NC).

Beaufort -- on the coast, 2hr NE of Wilmington.

Hello, hello?
I'm late to the party, but I wanted to make myself known here. I am in North Charlotte, near Harrisburg and Concord. I've been here for [3 yrs]. I'm rekindling my 2 channel listening situation after burning out in '96. Since being here, I've assembled a decent home theatre set up, 5.1 and have some odds/ends, remnants from my "glory" days. I'm on the look out for diy gear mostly, plumbing the depths of the far out audio...set amps, passive buffers...the fringe so to speak. I've been at this since 1975... :duh:

I'm in Cary, NC. Currently diggin' some tubes and completing a Class D amp project.

I think we need to get a Carolina mailing list together. There are so many Carolina audio guys scattered across the forums that it's hard to keep track. A central newsletter/mailing list would be nice. That way it would come to us, instead of us having to find it.
What do you think?
-
I'm in High Point.

Great! Make it happen!!! :thumb:
-
I'm game. Good idea. I'd like to connect with some other audio nuts. :icon_twisted:
-
OK, I'll try to get a mailing list together. I think I've found a good software.
Will let you guys know and then we can spread the word.
I'd love to have the Carolina audio stuff just land in my email box instead of having to hunt thru a lot of forums for it.
-
In Southern*ish* VA, does that count?
-
Define Southern-ish... Danville area?
-
I'm in Western, NC - Columbus, NC. I'd love to get together with some of you guys and hear other systems. Keep me in the loop.

I'm curious if the mod can add an interactive map of the carolinas so we can all pinpoint our locations. Scanning through this 2 page thread is a bit cumbersome, especially for new Carolina residents like myself who don't have a strong fix on the various towns.
But I'm right in the middle in Laurinburg, NC, just over the SC state line.
Greetings!

Agreed, an interactive map would be nice.
-
Welcome to AudioCircle, and to NC, Rodney!
Here's an interactive map that you can add your location to. I have added mine. Just adjust the zoom and pan until your street is visible. Then press the Add Marker link at the top of the map. Then just click on the map to mark you location. For security reasons, I recommend that nobody use the address field or lat/long coordinates to specify their location, it is unnecessary since this is just for fun. Just click somewhere in the neighborhood, maybe at a nearby intersection or baseball field, etc. We don't want anybody coming uninvited to see what kind of stereo you have.
Those who mark the map will be listed on the left pane. Please use your AC username as the title of the location that you mark.
http://www.communitywalk.com/raleigh/nc/map/782652
-
The map is supposed to have a little pin graphic at each marked location, but it seems to be broken now. Is it working for you?
I have set the map to display the location name next to the mark.
Locations can be deleted by anyone, I think. I'm not interested in owning or maintaining the map, but if someone else is, go ahead and claim it and maintain it.
Thanks
Rich

Is there a necessary login? I don't even see the "add marker" option said to be at the top of the map.
Oh, and thanks for the welcome. :)

The link above is a newly created Carolinas AudioCircle Members map. The map linked above is centered on Charlotte as a relative geocentric location. Carolinas AudioCircle members wishing to learn who is nearby may then simply consult the map and initiate communication with their audiophile neighbors.
You may freely enter your own location, but please, be no more specific than your city/street location.

This post has been edited to show the correct map link.

Cool map! You can put me in Greensboro. (West side, if that's an option). :thumb:
-
panomaniac,
Please email the map link through the email list you are administering. Please also request people include a street name with their town otherwise it will be difficult with 27 names just listed as 'Charlotte.'
cheers, weitrhino

I'm south of Samford on Lake Trace
2049 Long Point Trail

Thanks for taking the bull by the horns Rodney.
Please don't post any home addresses in this circle. Follow Rodney's request by sending him a personal message. Thank you!

In Goldsboro here. Home of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. That's about all Goldsboro is noted for, except also being the home of Clyde King (major league baseball personality), who was with the NY Yankees for many years. He recently died, but if you Google his name you can get a lot of info, if you're an MLB fan.

JVC,
I am on Lane Tree Dr close to the golf course. I have not met any audiophiles or home theaterphiles :D in this area so I am glad to know there is one. I tried to pm you but didn't see how to reply. I am very new to this site so I may have to have a certain number posts or something. I know a few folks back there in your area. Good to know somebody is this close by who has this sickness.

What gear do you have? What are your preferences in movies and music? :?
-
Welcome Robin!!
You do need to have 3 posts before you can PM, to prevent spammers from sending ads by PM without making any posts. Yours should work now...
Make yourself at home, there is a lot to see and do on AC, and we have the Carolina circle as home base.

Hey, I get up to Asheville frequently (live in Durham NC). What are you a dealer/audition site for? Might be fun to touch base next time I'm up.
-
I don't want this to be a commercial post, so I use with mostly Rogue Hera II, Rogue Apollo's, Herron VTPH-2, as well as Well Tempered Amadeus TT and Daedalus Ulysses.v2 speakers with Daedalus BOW's, except my BOW's have two 12" drivers per side. You are welcome to come over, enjoy a beer, maybe a glass of wine, or maybe water and listen to some tunes.
-
A trip to Figcon's music room is definitely worth the time! And he didn't list the most outstanding piece of gear in his response above.
-
It's a secret and if charles28722 is who I think it is, he will be invited here as well.

I am a new transplant to Asheville. And I can say that Figcon is a good guy to know. A visit to his listening room is well worth it!
-
10ear, ncblue, soundog, richidoo ....... nice to "meet" you all. It's raining out (possibly sleeting by now), cold, yucky, and I'm sittin' back listening to Grisman and Rice playing their different vintage instruments on Tone Poems. Ahhhhhh! Got a wild hair and moved speakers from a short wall to a long wall, tweeters to the inside, hung some fiberglass panels, listening in nearfield and liking it!!!

Hey there,
I'm a newbie to the Audio Circle community, based in south Durham, NC. I haven't worked my way through this circle yet, but hope to hear from others in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area! I have a modest system, but certainly have champagne ears on a (tasteful) beer budget!
Scott

Hey Scott
Welcome to AC!
Im in Cary. Look forward to meeting you. Watch the Carolina Audiophiles Circle for announcements for upcoming meets. I'll probably host one in mid March.
-
Hey Scott! I'm also in Durham, north side of downtown. Hope I catch you at a g2g sometime.
Mike
-
Glad to know that there is someone else who has a modest system. Mine is modest, but I love it-and I love music. Welcome aboard. If there is an event in March maybe I can attend and meet you and some of the others. It's a haul from WBNC, but if I have enough advance notice it would be worth the trip for me.
Happy New Year and keep well.
-
I'm in Charlotte NC. I'm interested in hearing different systems. I have a new set of Ascend Sierra Towers and a pair of Hsu subwoofers
