Title: Amber or Euforia
Post by: Atlplasma on 3 Sep 2015, 01:15 am
So how do Amber owners feel about this new introduction? I'm not trying to stir up a controversy--just curious about these two units since they are both DSD and similarly priced.

Amber may be going away. Ask the Lampi guys.

In terms of SQ, the Euforia will be the superior sounding DAC using our own DSD engine instead of a sabre.  The cost, however, it is USB only with NO PCM support.

Amber is DSD only as well, right? You would need to convert PCM to DSD (say with JRiver).

Nope, Amber is both, no need to convert.

Gopher:

A friend in England said the Amber is going away. Is that a) true; b) just true for Europe; or c) none of the above?

If it is going away is there a time table or is that TBD?

In advance, thanks

Larry

The Euforia gives you a version of the Lampizator direct filtered DSD system for half the price of the DSD DAC with Jupiter caps.
That should be quite attractive I'd think.   :)

The Amber is not going away, however some changes are being made to it to try to retain/improve upon the existing sound utilizing components we can get from a reliable and consistent supplier.  We expect to resume taking orders for Ambers within the next week or two.
