I agree very much with this statement.  The BDP-1 sounds great but the user interface is not good.  I have a high tolerance for quirky software but I am reaching my limit.  I have only x amount of time to listen to music and I really don't want to spend that time trying to get the dang thing to work.

Hi,

Sorry you are experiencing problems but it has to be a network issue not the BDP-1.  The BDP-1 has nothing to do with wireless network connection issues.

Hi,
I am using the mancave option (d-link router) with the BDP-1 and control it with my ipod using mpod and mini-2 and everything is working like a charm.  Make sure you configure mpod with the right setting to access the BDP-1.  I had some minor problem at the beginning due to incorrect settings. One thing I find is that you cannot save a playlist using mpod (might be a bug) but use the bryston mini-2 to create your playlist then it will bwe available with mpod. (don't forget to refresh cache in mpod after creating playlist with mini-2)

The IPad works very well as a BPD-1 controller. I wonder if a used IPad 1 can be bought for not may $$, now that Gen 3 is released.

James,

Is it ok to run both the interfaces at the same time? Max and Mpad, need to toggle back and forth so I can see the album art in Max.
Sometimes I have 4 interfaces running at the same time with no problems. Different interfaces show different info, ie; Max shows type of file  (like wav, flac etc.) whereas MPad does not.
I had many problems when I first got the BDP1 about a year ago, but recently all interfaces have been working just fine. I always use the IP address because BRYSTOn-BDP-1 never seems to work.   Could any of these problems be associated with the type of  man cave connection? I use a wireless adapter and do not seem to have the problems eveyone here is having.

Which brings me back to my original question.  Is there a wired interface that can be used.  My wireless connection is made through a Trendnet TEW654.  It works flawlessly to stream movies from netflix but is problematic with my ipod/mpod.

if you connect your network to the BDP-1 with an Ethernet cable and use Gnome (downloaded from Internet) as the interface, it should work reliably.

Because of location, I can't wire my BDP-1 to a router.  That's why I am currently wiring it to a wireless bridge.  Can I connect a laptop via ethernet cable to the BDP-1 and use gnome?  If I set up a wired connection to the BDP-1 would I lose my wireless connection on the laptop?  I am running Windows Vista and currently access the internet with a wireless modem.

Look at Netgear Powerline Ethernet Adapters. Run from router to electrical outlet, then from another electrical outlet to BDP-1. Solved my problem cheaply and easily. You will not lose your wireless connection if you connect BDP-1 this way.

I tried Gnome this morning - it's a nice bit of software!  I didn't have any connectivity issues and I love the interface.  I like being able to pull up lyrics and links as well.  Thanks for the advice.

Hi folks

The long hold function on Mpad interface is not working if you downloaded software update IOS 5.1 from Apple. Berrie tells me there is a fix on the way.

Hi James,

You may already be aware of this program; MAX ripper for Mac computers. It's much like DBpoweramp; bit perfect and it allows for imbedded tags!

James,

It looks great.  So, how do we get MAX2 once it becomes available?

Take care,
Denny

That is a teaser.mov since it seems to be for a BDP-2....isn't it a bit early in the product cycle for a BDP-2??

I should imagine that it is just that they call them bdp-2, bdp-3 etc when you have more than one device on the same network?

Cheers

Hi Danny

Not sure when Chris will be finished with it - hoping about a month - then we will offer it as an upgrade through new software.

If you have multiple BDP's on the same network you need to call them different names; bdp-1, bdp-2, bdp-3, bdp-x, so you know which one you are controlling and so they don't all start playing the same tune
