Hi,

I have the first one..and its very good.

I think the second one is the same execpt on the gold cd....many claims for being better, but I really doubt that...

But that said it wouldnt hurt if you can afford it...and it will probably turn into an investment!!

I have both, but bought this one for the cut referenced for use with the "Master Set" method of speaker placement that wasn't on the original.

Amazon has an incorrect track listing for the first link (not the gold one). The 20th Anniversary Reissue has 13 tracks.  To be clear, the tracks are the same on both disks. Each has bonus tracks compared to the original. Each has the 24-page booklet.   The decision boils down to sound quality and price.

Anyone know which version of Jennifer Warnes Famous Blue Raincoat is the best one to get?  Is it this one?  http://www.amazon.com/Famous-Blue-Raincoat-20th-Anniversary/dp/B000OPO6WY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1312072495&sr=8-1

Take a listen to "The National", High Violet and "Bon Iver" they are both very layered recordings that will show off the range of your Salk speakers.  It's like throwing a fast ball at your speakers, but the Salk's handle it well. Bad speakers will fail and sound muddy.

Here are two that should be listed. I haven't heard "Blue Chamber Quartet, First Impressions" mentioned below, but the these two are great.

Steve Strauss "Just Like Love" Stockfisch Records Hybrid SACD

Sara K "Hell or High Water" Stockfisch Records XRCD

From TAS - Well Worth Hearing: Multichannel SACDs from Stockfisch - Chris Martens -- 05/29/2008

"Like most A/V journalists, I have favorite music discs I like to take to trade shows, partly to have high-quality reference materials on hand, but also to have good "show-and-tell" offerings for the back-and-forth musical exchanges that make good audio shows so much fun. Three discs I own that have consistently "wowed" listeners at CES, Rocky Mountain Audio Fest, and other shows happen to be multichannel SACDs that were produced by Gunther Pauler (of Pauler Acoustics) for the German label Stockfisch.

The discs are:

Sara K, Hell or High Water
Steve Strauss, Just Like Love
Blue Chamber Quartet, First Impressions

In all three cases, Pauler creates vibrant recordings full of rich tonal colors and textures, all of them set within huge, 3D acoustic spaces. But most of all, these records are just plain fun (and intensely engaging) to listen to. On more than a few occasions I've played tracks from these records in demo rooms, only to have listeners on hand demand to hear the tracks over again. I think that speaks well for the records' ability to win hearts and minds."
