Title: Original Plus Piano, now $1299
Post by: Rob Babcock on 20 Oct 2003, 02:34 am
My brother just clued me in to this one: the original Plus DLP projector has now been slashed to just $1299!  This is a screaming bargain, IMO.  It cannot do HD, but it contains a good line doubler/deinterlacer.  IMOHO, it compares very favorably to the drastically more expensive Sharp models for SD material like DVD.

If they continue this deal, I may buy one for my bedroom system! :o   I'd of course go with a smaller screen.  One draw is that it'd be a lot easier to carry up the stairs than a huge box TV!

A link for those of us that are lazy...

I still need to see one of these in action. I'll have to see if the one guy I know that's got one ever got his bulb replaced (it blew up as it was one of the first production bulbs that weren't fully "debugged" yet. apparently that's been fixed now).

I also see that they're selling refurbed HD units for $2,200.

Rob, why don't you buy one of the HD units for your main setup, then stuff your current SD model in your bedroom?
