When is it time to go the upgrade/refurb route?

Certainly when the equipment is broken IMO, I see no reason for you fix what is not broken with a 20 years warranty.

The refurb is for units that are more than 20 years old.  After 20 years it is worth considering an update but if everything is working well then no need.

I had one that I sent in for the sst upgrade years ago.
