OK Bill - This one's gonna trump that lot

At last I have an original release copy of the Quo's Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon

One of two "little gem" eBay finds this week.
After a Steam Clean it's pretty much perfect - all for the princely sum of 99 of our British Pennies (OK plus a couple of quid P&P)

Am very pleased to have this long sought LP in the collection.

All I need now is the 2nd Album "Spare Parts" - These are like Rocking Horse Doo-Dah!  :P

Very impressive. I got hooked on the Quo when I watched the Live Aid DVD. Any recommendations on must have Quo albums.

Thanks

You sir, are simply amazing. :notworthy:  I've never heard of 75% of these records/artists. A couple sound like jazz or classical which means they would never find their way to my turntable.

Come on Laura only 5 jazz titles of 18 lps

Ooohh! Tricky one.
Personally I like the transitional period between 60's pop/rock to 70's blues/rock

So I dropped some coin at Flat, Black and Circular in East Lansing. You might rightfully ask, "what's in the bag, Biz???"

Let's face it. We've been looking at the pumpkinlist lately and crying "I am not worthy!" So today I present orthobiz's challenge: (all shot in a hotel room with waning sunlight on my iPhone)

First, the new:

SRC, really an old album, but a reissue. I've been looking for a cleaner copy of the second album, Milestones by them which is a new found B-grade psych instant classic.

Next, the near-new:
Barely used Elvis Costello album, I'm seeing him next week and haven't heard any of it yet (shame on me).

With inspiration from pumpkin, three from the dollar bin:

Tumbleweed Gatefold, Rainbow label

A Passion Play, gatefold but a newer Chrysalis label. I saw this concert at Madison Square Garden but somehow bought Thick As A Brick but not this one...

Gruppo Sportivo, Mistakes, a promo but not a white label promo. I actually have a white label promo that is so primitive it has sheets of information pasted onto a white album jacket. It's a favorite at my house, Allie has one already, this one is for Emma.

Allie's birthday coming up, she won't believe this green vinyl Red Seal RCA promo copy of Bowie Peter and the Wolf:

And Allie loves Roxy:

And finally, my holy grail:

Here Come The Warm Jets
British Import
On Island
PORKY PRIME CUT!!!

Needless to say, I'm happy happy happy.

On a recent visit to River Records in Memphis, TN, http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=95683.new#new, I picked up these few gems:

The Cyrkle "Red Rubber Ball" 1966 Columbia "360 Sound" Mono LP

Little River Band "First Under The Wire" 1979 Capitol Records Original Master Recording LP

Wishbone Ash "There's The Rub" 1974 MCA Records LP

Rick James "Reflections" 1984 "Best Of" Motown Records LP

And, here's one I got at Goner Records in Memphis on Young Street.

Donald Fagan "The Nightfly" 1982 Warner Brothers Japanese Pressing LP

Found time to get over to a local Record Fair at Royal Leamington Spa this morning.

Can't let Bside, Biz and Pumpkin find all the goodies  :D

My favourite little lady was there who specialises in low cost, high quality items.
5 rows of £1 bins were plundered by me and my 13 year old daughter

So £30 spent and now spinning this lot;

THE PROCLAIMERS,   SUNSHINE ON LEITH
BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST,   LIVE

SANTANA,   THE SWING LIGHT

MOORE, GARY,   WE WANT MOORE!
THREE DOG NIGHT,   THREE DOG NIGHT

All the vinyl and most of the covers are in Mint/Near Mint condition, except for the Three Dog Night which looks like the only one to have ever seen a needle - a bit of a steaming and it should be fine.

The Abba and The Proclaimers were chosen by Sophie (both were fine by me).
There's a few in here I've wanted for a while, especially the Daltry (I love Giving It All Away).
The other gem is the Live Gary Moore album (RIP Squire), I saw him on this tour - it was a great show him with Ian Paice on drums  8)

Plenty of spinning on my new deck to be had here  :D

Make me smile

Ignore the two jokers (DLT & Jimmy Saville) opening up this clip.

You might recognise this, probably their most famous hit.

Cheers

Make Me Smile was a monster hit...just not here. I would call it pop on the cusp of the new wave. I happened on a CD single of the 30 yr anniversary where he rerecorded it, also pretty good.

Meanwhile, Davey, that youtube clip is incredible. Few people have vocal delivery like Harley (B Ferry comes to mind) and he is having a ball singing it! Besides handclaps, I'm a sucker for songs that have those brief silent breaks and then explode right back into the song. And those "ooh-ooh-la-la-la's" just hit the spot. You've made my morning, thanks!

Also, reviewing all music. com has me adding the words slick, glam and polished. Refined pop!

Got to admit - I had this tune spinning on the New TT at a rather impressive volume on Sunday
The whole family having a bit of a dance (rather embarrassingly in my case) and a laugh
As you say it is a great pop song, difficult for anyone not to appreciate it.

Re.great voices, I took my eldest daughter to see a one off. rather intimate KT Tunstallgig on Sunday night.
She really impressed - on all fronts. Stunning voice, very versatile guitarist/pianist and highly engaging.

Both of these experiences really had us on a high - Isn't music a great therapy  :thumb:
