Vinyl hunting excursion followed by a trip to the pub, sounds like a fantastic way to spend a day.

Ha! I too typically follow a trip to one of our local vinyl fairs with a visit to one of the local country pubs - very satisfying! :D

Definately do it - London really is a great city to visit now - I'd fully recommend a Thames River Boat Cruise, it's agreat way to see the sights and get a little bit of history over the Tannoy.

Cheers
Dave

Must of walked by it w/o seeing reckless records, but stumbled into Jazz Record Mart;

http://jazzrecordmart.com/

what i wanted the most Stanley Turrentine with his wife Shirley Scott - "Never Let You Go", plus;
Duke Ellington & John Coltrane - "Duke Ellington & John Coltrane"
Bill Evans Trio - Sunday at the Village Vanguard
Bill Evans - "Waltz for Debby"
Bill Evans & Jim Hall - "Undercurrents"
Eddie - 'lockjaw' Davis - Afro-Jaws

And also bought some items on CD from Amazon with Tina Davis, 1st one to show up is "back to the tracks.

Go for it!

Tried again tonight and found it, at least the one downtown by the Art Museum, glad I didn't find it last night as if I did, wouldn't have found JRM, and it was the superior store.

Good ones, Decal! I have the Stones box and the Neil Young Greatest Hits (and the first four album box). Love them all. Not familiar with the Hendrix reissues, I have originals. Tell us how they sound.

I am so not into Jazz but I secretly will admit that I envy the way (at least it seems) so much stuff gets reissued and so much old stuff is highly prized. Plus all the masterful production/miking that went into these performances. Plus the fact that you can have a whole separate turntable with a mono stylus just to play the coveted mono versions.

Thank goodness I'm not into it. I have enough problems keeping up with rock!!! Keep having fun...

You gotta get the eponymous first album. Bare minimum.

Pman - you go to Baltimore and I don't get a call? At least a text? I think my feelings are hurt.  :(

I assume you visited with Bill, how's he doing?

And what was the quality of the Trax on Wax place? They have some interesting titles, but a little pricey on the jazz offerings.

Oh yeah. But both records are among my favorites, Crack The Sky and Animal Notes. In fact, I reviewed Animal Notes for my college newspaper! (favorably, of course)

The two Hendrix reissues really suprised me. They are both very well done. The bass has been brought up a bit (the originals had typical, for the time , compressed bass. Both are very quiet. Well worth the money as far as I'm concerned. :thumb:

All used; but all seem to be in really nice shape, visually at least. (I haven't listened to anything yet.)  In no particular order...

  1 - Weather Report - Black Market
2 - Jackson Browne - Running On Empty
  3 - Chuck Mangione - Main Squeeze
4 - Chuck Mangione - Feels So Good
5 - Brecker Bros. & Guests - Blue Montreux II
6 - Chuck Mangione - Chase the Clouds Away
7 - Les Dudek - Say No More
  8 - John Klemmer - Waterfalls
  9 - Charlie Daniels - Looks Back
10 - Dave Edmunds - Subtle as a Flying Wallet
11 - Joe Walsh - But Seriously, Folks!
12 - Kansas - Point of No Return (Picture Disk)
13 - Donald Byrd - And 125th. St., NYC
14 - Dave Brubeck (The New Brubeck Quartet) - A Cut Above

Total: $10.50  :thumb:
