Yesterday's garage sale finds... The seller had about 500 or more really classic titles with many original pressings. Too bad that due to previously being improperly stored, most of the records covers were ruined to cats (pee and scratch), mice and moisture. Yuck! :duh: I was so disappointed, as I was ready to buy the whole lot. :bawl: Before long, I was able to rescue only these 5 records, which were in good shape. I had to get out that garage fast, as a major allergy attack was comin' on! :o Total: $10

Pink Floyd "Animals" 1977 Columbia Records

Neil Young "Harvest" 1972 Reprise/Warner Bros. Records

Traffic "On The Road" 1973 Island Records

West, Bruce & Laing "Why Dontcha" 1972 Columbia Records

Tom Rush "Ladies Love Outlaws" 1974 Columbia Records

I had a similar experience, far fewer records, last year: severe mold and water damage from improper storage. Today I stopped at a garage sale and the woman said her boyfriend had just recently sold 500 records someplace in Traverse City, 40 miles from where I live. He was happy to do it because "nobody wanted them." :duh:

Finally found a NM copy of Animals; Eagles is the 180g reissue; 77 is new to my collection and the Derek and the Dominos Layla box set with 180g vinyl plus 4 CDs, a DVD, a book and poster is a cool box set. I also acquired the Rumours 45 RPM :thumb: :thumb:

T Heads 77 is my favorite, Pulled Me Up is my favorite song. My copy is still good but it's been hard to find a clean one for my daughter. U don't see it every day!

I bought my first T Heads record at RMAF about 4 or 5 years ago and have been adding to it as I find at least NM copies. Your posting of your favorites several weeks ago inspired me to start looking in earnest for 77 and MSAB&F. I found both in the New Arrivals bin at 4000 holes about 1 month apart and both were in NM condition.

Only a couple of weeks ago did I realize that 4000 holes refers to Blackburn, Lancashire! I thought it was 4000 records with 4000 holes in the label of the record!!!!

4000 Holes is a lyric from the Beatles "A day in the life"

Potholes - referring to the poor condition of the roads as a generalisation of the state of things at the time.

And....

Potholes goes way back to Roman occupation.
The locals stole clumps of clay from the freshly layed roads to make ...... Pots.

Going to be stayting at the Chicago Hilton on S. Michagan Ave week after next, so if I can break away, I'm going to swing by 1 of the branches.

Don't know Chicago that well. But back in the day, I thought Cook County was in an iffy neighborhood...

Before I get to shopping in Chi-town, I need to square away my RSD score and last trip to the vinyl crack house that's still in the garage;

Here's everything I need to address, 90% of what I've bought recently, and 2 IKEA bookcases to put it in, to go with the full IKEA bookcase in the house already.

these boxes have most of what I've bought recently, there's a big white box in the house already with the A-E alpha range, and a small brown box from RSD.

the RSD bag contains Jazz, 8 Miles and 4 Lee Morgan, all shrinkwrapped, and maybe 8 other assorted items, everything else is classical, with maybe 4 Rock titles somewhere in there.

Looks like we all need to go to record rehab! Quite a haul, etcarrol!

I picked up Analogue Productions Yes Fragile and it is quite good. Even has the little booklet.

4000 Holes is a lyric from the Beatles "A day in the life"

After reading this I asked Bob where he got the name for his store and he said from "A Day in the Life." Makes perfect sense because Bob is a Beatles fanatic. He has an incredible collection of Beatles memorabelia in his store.

Hi Laura - The guy deserve's credit for a bit of ingenuity in naming his store.
I sort of suspected this might have been the origin when I first heard it mentioned here.

I'm keeping a little note of these "Gold Mines", I keep trying to persuade my good lady that we should take the family on a bit of a tour of the US.
Not too sure of how many of these diversions I'd be able to squeeze in though :P

Cheers

Davey,

I've got a spare bedroom if you ever make it to Washington State.

Happy Listening,
