Hit Double Decker, got;

More Songs About Buildings and Food - Talking Heads
Silk Degrees - Boz Scaggs

Silk Degrees came out my sophomore year in college, it was everywhere on campus.

That and Talking Heads 77 are my favorites. More Songs is so good that Take Me To The River is one of the weaker songs on the album! In med school I used to live off those first few Talking Heads albums whenever they were released. Plus those Sire releases sound great, even though the vinyl feels a little light.

Silk Degrees is great. You had to have a copy to party in college!

Nice lookin' store and some great finds Paul. :thumb: I may have to come visit you. Back in the mid-late 70's I spent quite a bit of time in Midland. The KCMO law firm I worked for was lead defense counsel for Dow on their plastic foam insulation fire cases. I got to know the Holiday Inn with the indoor swimming pool quite well. Also made it to Ann Arbor a couple of times.

188 miles from my house. I was dropping off my Linn for a new tonearm. We hit two out of three record stores while in Ann Arbor.

Better pics. Also went to PJ's in Ann Arbor, a little hole in the wall but a wonderful selection with a great, talkative owner. The XTC greatest hits is an import with one more disk than my US release, some "B" sides. Gentle Giant: Octopus is an import, on the Vertigo label. I am unfamiliar but in talking about it with another guy at Encore later in the day, he implied these Vertigo releases are great.

We'll see how they all clean up...My daughter Allie bought a bunch so we'll probably run the Spin Clean later. Best way to clean 20 records, as long as there are two running the assembly line!

Speaking of Encore Records, I hear some blistering blues coming out of the speakers and he is spinning the first Love Sculpture album. Man, it sounded good! I had just cleaned their second (and last) album the day before and listened to half of it.  It's what Dave Edmunds did before solo/Nick Lowe/Rockpile and it's a gem. So I asked about buying it and got a story about how it's part of an estate and it's on consignment and it doesn't have a price and blahblahblah. I have a feeling they want some serious coin for it but they weren't ready to say just yet (the owner wasn't there).

Paul & Bill,

tell me about XTC. I must have been in a rip van winkle sleep because I don't own any and wouldn't recognize one of their songs if I heard it. Are they anything like Gentle Giant? I missed them the first time around too. The first time I heard GG was last October at RMAF :scratch:

Laura, XTC made some of the smartest, most literate, tuneful music of the 70's thru early 2000s. Pop at it's finest with incredible mastering and quality sound. Two great songwriters. Start with Skylarking: produced by Rundgren, it's ubiquitous and if you don't like it you're likely not going to be a fan.

My 16 year old daughter is collecting all of them, like Wayner. She's got a way to go, though.

Waxworks is a greatest hits and is another good starting point.

Thanks Paul. Sounds like I would like them. Don't know how I missed them.

Thanks again.
