Second trip to Radioactive Records in Ft. Lauderdale in as many weeks, a little more restrained this time.

Have been looking for the Alabama Shakes for awhile, the Byrds is a NM copy to replace a VG- one I have, and I've been trying to start a Bob Mould/Husker Du collection for awhile, wish I could find a copy of Workbook.

A few more Jazz titles from the collection I pulled about 17 albums out of last week, not sure how I missed Milestones, a fav, it will replace the 3 copies I have all kinda beat, this is NM.

Today was a big day:
I sold a bunch of LPs I culled to make room for new LPs I am buying..
One place in particular gives me good prices. I spent a LOT of money there over the years.. So I buy and sell to them.
(I had about 50 LPs to dump. A few good stuff, most average, some junk.)
I sold them first picks, and bought three new albums.. So For $5 cash and my trade in moneyi got:
Blur: Modern Life is Rubbish
Blur: Parklife
The Flaming Lips: the Soft Bulletin
Then...
Went to 1/2 price books using the 40% off coupons and bought:
Grizzly Bear 'Shields'
Dylan Mono Another Side of Bob Dylan (I cheated and used two.)

Then I went next door and sold the leftover Lps I had for $30, there I bought:
Ween Chocolate and Cheese
Ween The Mollusk
The Strokes: Room On Fire
Pixies Surfer Rosa
Pixies Come on Pilgrim
Flaming Lips Stardeath (redo of Pink Floyd Dark side of the Moon)
So this pile with the money for the records sold there and rebates cost me $63. (they give points for buying and selling LPs to them good for more music)
And then this morning I went crazy on Amazon and bought:
Portishead Dummy
Massive Attack Blue Lines
Liz Phair Exile in Guyville
Beastie Boys Pauls Boutique
Talk Talk Laughing Stock
New Order Power Corruption and Lies
Joy Division Closer, and Unknown pleasures
Primal Scream Screamadelica
Dead Kennedys Fresh Fruit for Rotting Veg..
Elbow Seldom Seen Kid

And then the mailman brought me:
Jimi Hendrix Axis bold as Love MONO
Arcade Fire Neon Bible.

So i have been busy refilling my vacant spaces in the Rock area.
(spending my tax refund like my pants are on fire.)
Hah ha.. And all that was just TODAY...

Second album from XTC. Allmusic has it pegged as their worst??? Will have to check it out!

Paul

Coming from a huge XTC fan (easily one of my top five favorite bands), I'd say AllMusic is right about that.  BUT the cover is great, and there a few really good early XTC songs here.

Next up was Drums and Wires of course..............

I've been on a buying streak lately so let me see if I can remember all of them.

Apoptygma Berzerk - Welcome to Earth
Apoptygma Berzerk - Harmonizer
Fun. - Some Nights
Eric Clapton - Unplugged (just awesome)
Leonard Cohen - The Future, I'm Your Man, Songs from a room, Ten New Songs
Porcupine Tree - In absentia, Fear of the Blank Planet and The incident (just ordered these two today)
Dave Brubek - Time Out, Time Further Out (both from music on vinyl and both sound amazing)
Dusty Springfield - Dusty in Memphis (from 4 men w/ beards - way too hot sounding)
The Killers - Battleborn 45 rpm (love this record)
Nick Drake - Pink Moon
Jack Johnson - Brushfire Fairytales
Cowboy Junkies - Trinity Sessions
Judy Collins - Living (had to get it after that episode of GIRLS a couple of weeks ago but it arrived very warped)
Elvis Costello - This years model, Imperial Bedroom (both on MoFi)
Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine
Mumford and Sons
Lumineers
The Dream Factory - Dream Factory (on its way now)
War - Why can't we be friends

So much good stuff to listen too

I like it a lot. Art-pop rock and I love her voice. If you like Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, you'll like Florence.

Some days your are just in the right place at the right time.  The local record store had just bought a collection of jazz and hadn't even unboxed it.  I got first picks..... let's see, all original and early pressings:
Leading of with a vg+ Kind of Blue on Columbia 6 eye
then Jimmy Smith Live at the Chicken Shack early Blue note
next another copy of Nina Simone and Friends (NM)
then Sonny Rollins Sonny's Time on Jazzland
Ellington at Newport '56
Ahmad Jamal Trio "Count 'em 88"
Sonny Stitt plays Jimmy Giuffre Arrangements (NM until I dropped it while cleaning, now VG+ )
Nina Simone atht the village Gate
Nina simone High Priestess of Soul
Sonny Rollins Contemporary Alternate Takes
sonny Rollins What's New (RCA 2s stamper)
Buddy Rich The Wailing
Nina Simone Let it all Out
Jimmy Smith Midnight Special
Nina Simone Forbidden Fruit
Roy and Diz No. 2
... and a dozen of RCA shaded dog classical and Mercury Living Presence
This represents about one to two years worth of collecting for me in a single buy...$180
Now listening to my nice copy of Kind of Blue  :D
