This was the first Family album I ever owned. Wound up listening to it quite a bit because back in the day, if you bought it you just about HAD to listen to it! It was because of a positive review in Stereo Review, probably Steve Simels, my favorite reviewer, and is an underrated album by a group that was on its way out.

Paul,

Thanks for the background on the Family lp, as a newcomer to Family I appreciate it. I'm slowly picking up their lps and this one was not on my radar at all. So when I saw it, i had to buy it :D    I look forward to giving it a spin when I get home next week.

cheers,  Jim

If you're getting into Family, I'd recommend "Fearless" and "Bandstand".  Those are their two best imho.

I have the original America and the Friday version as well. Friday did a nice job on it, IMO. You may discover some extra detail in the newer version and it is on heavier vinyl.

Did MOFI ever do this LP?????

No time to look up images for all of these. But this has been a banner week for my vinyl finds. In order of my excitement:

Joy Division "Closer", original UK 1st pressing, NM (!!!)
Dave Brubeck "Time Out", mono 6 eye from 1961
Mingus "Blues & Roots", original mono 1959 pressing
Television "Adventure", original pressing NM
Boris "Absolute Ego", red vinyl
Tortoise "Standards", reissue
Jeff Mangum "Live at Jittery Joe's", reissue
Peter Gabriel "4/Security", 200g Classic
Husker Du "Zen Arcade", original
Deerhunter "Cryptograms", 2LP version
Kraftwerk "The Man Machine", reissue
Zappa/Mothers "Roxy & Elsewhere"
Psychedelic Furs "Mirror Moves"

Man I love it when extra money in my pocket lines up with extremely good vinyl luck like this. And some of these like "Time Out" "Zen Arcade" and "Blues & Roots" were steals.
