Yes it was a great weekend. I was a guest for a Audio Syndrome meeting. Tom the host has a great system and a killer vinyl collection. I heard a comparison between 2 Sgt. Pepper LPs. 1st was the UHQR and then a MFSL. There was a clear diff. between the two and with current prices I'll have to pass on the UHQR.

I have the "first" album on order:
http://www.audiobasics.com/acatalog/Elton_John__Elton_John_-_LP.html#aCRLP005
From Canada. I never owned it before, I have several somewhat noisy copies and of course the Brit is supposed to be the best as UNI "screwed it up."
Fremer reviewed it recently but it is not available in the States.

Paul

Just ordered it. Thanks Paul

So we were talking about Bowie, my daughter's favorite artist. And he says, I have a used Bowie song book with guitar chords. It's in a box on the floor in front of the new records (which are mixed new and old). So there's a box of records on the floor in a crate with no song book, which I told him. And he walks over and goes about three quarters of the way through and...lo and behold, there it was, among records. Not even Bowie records. Amazing that he knew it was there!

But some other stuff he had trouble finding...I would volunteer for a month and get it straightened up because he has some tasty disks in there. But who knows where?

Portishead 12" EP

Sweet Level Headed (my daughter has this old label, I have the new label so one of my other two daughters can have my old one if this one cleans up OK. The picture looks dirty but the record does not!)

And this Earmark Kinks record, Something Else, truly a great one up there with Village Green and Arthur and Lola and Muswell Hillbillies. Looking on the web, this one either sounds great or is reviled by those who own it.

Some of the thickest vinyl I've ever seen. It's like a 78! From what I read it might be MONO but I haven't looked at the sleeve carefully enough. Will have to listen when I get back to Michigan.

Yes indeed . . . I'm not sure in my audio/listening story is as good as Bill's yet when I was at Reckless Records in Chicago last Thursday evening Barry Adamson former bass payer/drummer of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Magazine  was doing an In-store Performanc.  Great Acid Jazz stuff . . .  :duh: now days later kick'en myself that i didn't try to get a signed lp :(  yet the store didn't seem to be pushing them either

Saw the Blakey album posted on the RadioActive Records FB page Thursday, doubted it would last till Monday night, but it did - psyched! Found some other good things, a microgroove Riverside offering and a Sinatra collection of his Reprise stuff to go with the Columbia collection I got last month.

Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers – The Big Beat
Beyond the Blue Horizon by GEORGE BENSON
The Quota - Jimmy Heath (deep groove Riverside lp)
Nice and Easy - Frank Sinatra
Sinatra: The Reprise Years - (4 lp collection)
Hotel California - The Eagles
Flying Cowboys - Rickie Lee Jones
