Great haul Dave! Are all of those new to you?

Mostly Laura,
Certainly all new vinyl to my collection.
Some I've previously heard, but never owned, such as the Ted.
One I've only got on a horrible shiney plastic thing - the Heart.
But in the main, these are totally new to me and so far very much enjoying them.

Enjoy your latest acquisitions too  :thumb:

Cheers
Dave

I traveled down to Cambridge yesterday, and made my first visit to Stereo Jack's Records.  Wow, what a great place.   I could have spent a lot of money in there, but managed to somewhat control myself and came away with the following.

Stanley Turrentine Up at Minton's - a Toshiba/EMI pressing.

Blue Mitchell - Big 6, Mono - A Victor pressing.

Four! - Hampton Hawes - OJC

The Cats - Tommy Flannagan, John Coltrane, Kenny Burrell, Idrees Sulieman - OJC

Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers - Buhaina's Delight - Blue Note Liberty pressing

All in all I'm very pleased.  I'll be heading back down to Stereo Jack's, that's for sure.

Tim

Quite a haul, I know nothing about Jazz records except it seems there's a ton of them out there to explore. Maybe when I retire, along with classical...

Have fun spinning!

Had half an hour to spare in Stratford while one of my daughters was having a music lesson.
Popped in here for the first time

They had a little back room with a small selection of vinyl

And I walked away with this little lot;

RY COODER - BOP TILL YOU DROP
BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST - TURN OF THE TIDE
STEELY DAN - AJA
STEELY DAN - THE ROYAL SCAM
GREATFUL DEAD - IN THE DARK
DONALD FAGAN - THE NIGHTFLY
PRINCE - 1999
THE MOODY BLUES - LONG DISTANCE VOYAGER

All are original UK/European pressings, the Steely's are on ABC.

A few more struck off the want list and all the cash to a good cause  8)
Not a bad little haul, especially considering I had no intentions of buying any more vinyl this weekend.

Thanks Paul, they all sound great.   One of the fun things that I really like about jazz is the exploring.  You listen to one album, and really like it.  You find yourself in a vinyl shop going through their jazz section and come upon an album you're not familiar with, but then you look at the personnel playing on it and realize that you know a lot of those guys from other albums.  It makes it a lot easier to pick up music by artists I either outright don't know, or artists I may not be all that familiar with.  An artist may be a leader on one album, and a sideman on another.  They mix and match a lot and it makes things really interesting.

Without knowing anything about old jazz records...why do I think that 50's and 60's homes spinning these disks would be inhabited by men in smoking jackets with pipes and Garrard 301 Thorens 124 decks preserving their minty fresh vinyl? We had a plastic armed Garrard record dropper with the 78/33 flip needle on it. Those disks were trashed...Herb Alpert, 101 Strings, Mantovani, etc.

Hi Paul - Typically once or twice a year in London - was there New Years Eve.
This morning was Shakespear's Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire, central England, 10 miles from us.
June Hmmm! - let's tic-tac nearer the time
