My computer is still loading that giant Mollusk pic. And it's scaring me!

Paul

Yes, Ween is not for the fainthearted. Couldn't resist posting the huge pic. Will try to show restraint in the future.

Saw them on TV once. They don't do it for me.

The Flaming Lips have changed their sound over time, so you might want to give them another try or listen to a few different albums. My starting points would be Yoshimi or Soft Bulletin.

I was pretty close to ordering the set but was able to exercise some restraint for once.

How is it Pierre? Do you have the original with which to compare it?

You gotta like this, then, Laura. Double record German import, sounds great. The Cube/Fly label has the best inner sleeves!

I bought this awhile ago and didn't listen to it until tonight. It basically devotes one side to each of the first four albums. And while I love In Held Twas In I from Shining Brightly, at 17 minutes I can see why they left it off.

Anyway, it's the kind of record that DEMANDS playing all four sides in a row. At least I know what I'm doing tonight!

Paul

SHINE ON Brightly. My mistake! My buddy worked in a record store back in the day and a customer asked for "A Band In A Diner" instead of Abandoned Luncheonette...

I don't have the original lp to compare but it sounds fantastic. MoFi did an excellent job. Almost noise free. The song Piano Man is superb. I hope my Ricky Lee Jones "Pirate" will arrive soon.

Thank you. My experience with MoFi, both older and the new releases, has been very good.

Great haul Dave! Are all of those new to you?

Dropped in on 4000 Holes today and came home with these (except the Joplin box set which is a PopMart 1/2 price special). The Kinks and CSNY were free. A couple of youngsters came in with a box of "grandma's records" to sell. Bob offered them $12 for 8 of the records and they sold him the entire box for $20. I got to pick what I wanted from the box. The MoFi of Piano Man (thanks Pierre) and Nickel Creek are new. First time on vinyl for Nickel Creek and from the original recordings. Produced by Alison Krauss. Sarah Watkins played with The Decemberists on The King Is Dead tour.

vinyl_lady - Nickel Creek on vinyl is fantastic.  I've got This Side from them on vinyl and can't wait to get the other two releases.

Just a handful of about 40 lp's I've picked up over the past couple of weeks, most under $5 shipped.

Oh well, Paray conducting Paray joan of Arc, Dorati Verdi Overtures, Fennell British bands, - all Mercury

You are absolutely right. I've asked store owners, it goes out as soon as it comes in. You can find the Low Budget era Kinks but Village Green, Arthur, Something Else...well, just about impossible. Keep looking. Ask the owner if he has any collections that haven't been priced yet. That's how I snagged a copy of Lola and Arthur for the pumpkinman!
