My first post to the GR circle. First off I have to say, Mr Richie you are designing some interesting projects. I just picked up your NEO2 kit, haven't had the time to put it together yet-soon. Your OB's are very intriguing. Suggestion for the name - how about Resolution, fullrange-OB. Or something to that effect.

I could sure use a pr. of these in my living room.

i have built 10 different OB speakers, but I am sure that you
can do much better.

I liked you av3 very much at RMAF.

I love naming things.  If you accept a name I propose,
do I get a prize?

That is one crazy looking speaker design Danny!  Where do you come up w/ these ideas?  My first thought was "where is the tweeter?".  Oh, there it is... on the back, pointed kinda upward!  I admire your creativity.  Between this, your A/V O, your A/V RS... very creative designs.    Heck, makes my Alpha's look boring!

I'm sure they sound great.  Names... I'd pick something that might have some personal significance to you Danny (even it sounds a bit obscure to others).  Makes your creation a bit more special.

The 12" P-audio is a coaxial driver. There is a tweeter in the center of it. It plays through an acoustically transparent dust cap on the woofer.

The rear tweeter is to make it more of a full range dipole design. Technically I guess that would make it bipolar in the upper ranges. The rear tweeter also helps add a sense of air and space while at the same time leveling the impedance to make it more of a flat 8 ohms across the board.

All right, I'll bite.  OBehave! is my name suggestion.  Since the bass is so behaved.

May I have kit if you accept the name?    alot to ask, but man would I ever be enjoying life.

Danny, have you come up with a general idea of what a finished speaker would cost? A ballpark figure would help for budgeting.

Thanks!

Cobra is an excellent one, I think.  I know it is a departure from your typical naming convention, but it is also a departure from your typical speaker!

Thanks mcgsxr. I am thinking the same thing. This one needs to be more than a model number or designation. It needs a name.

Should "Cobra" be selected, and a prize awarded, I donate 100% of the prize to Mr. Baker to trick these out with the woodwork and select parts that only Response Audio can do. Not that he doesn't already have enough on his plate.

For your sake, Bill, I hope the prize isn't a punch in the face or a kick in the crotch. Either way, pictures of the process are a must!

Well, I actually think the name might want to go along with the way it looks.
Cobra actually fits nicely as the speaker somewhat looks like a striking cobra with the top driver as the head, and the 'v' part of the speaker as the body propelling upwards.

I also think the GR Discovery is a nice sounding name...

1. OB1 Kinoby.

2. Transcends

3. Vanishing Point

4. Stomp

5. Window Panes

6. Anti Speaker

7. Senshasas

8. Air Force or Air Force 1

9. Revolution    since these are what I have wanted to see in a speaker for long time now.

10. SET Dream     Kind of sounds like wet ..., well you know. A SET amp dream                                   speaker.

11. SET Dream Lightning         says it all really.

12. Fusion

13. Focus

14. Dynomite

15. It's too late, my brain is cooked. Time to go to bed.

Danny, you say the detail is "good". Can you quantify that, say compared to the other speakers you have made?
