Woofers have landed and are making their way through stripping, trucking and customs clearing. I should have them ready to ship by the end of the month.

That's just for the driver, the amp is a separate expense right?

Danny or Brian,
I've been thinking of going to stereo subs for awhile. The new OB drivers are intriguing to me. Can you give any estimation if a pair of the 16 ohm per side in OB/Dipole would have same power handling as a single 4 ohm in sealed per side?

Danny, when are you going to post an official page on the website? i want to total up how much a pair of the 500w plate amps and a pair of the 8 ohm 12s  will cost in combo with an upgraded ob7 kit. also does the ob7 kit come with an electrical schematic of the crossover in addition to the point to point wiring version?

Soon, I hope.

Amp cost is something that I am still waiting on from Brian. You won't need that much power on these 12's. Woofers are only $149 each

Hi Danny,

I've got a SW-12B and the matching passive in a 3.2 cu ft box powered by a Kiega amp right now.  I'd like to buy one of your new amps and drivers.  Would one 4 ohm driver and an amp work well in this size box with your old passive as the vent?  Or, would I be better off popping two of the 8 ohm drivers in there (with the box now sealed)?  Not sure if I can fit the two active drivers in there because of how they are oriented (passive is bottom firing... active is at the back of the cabinet near the bottom).

Keep us posted on when we can order the new products?

You could put two of the 8 ohm woofers in a 3.2 cubic foot enclosure. Add plenty of damping material to make the box act bigger.

On your current design you need to swap the two drivers. The PR is too heavy to be down firing. You might also get a little more output from it if you swap the drivers.

Plans for front firing boxes would be most appreciated.

I want stereo subs also.

The discontinued North Creek "Thunder" design appealed to me when I was looking for plans. You can look at them here :

http://www.northcreekmusic.com/Thunder/ThunderInfo.htm

35 liters net is 1.236013330027 cu ft for what its worth.

Hope this is useful to someone. :)

do you need a special servo amp or std amp will do? if the former is true then the price will increase, become less economical.

I think the Exodus Audio sub woofer amp does not need servo amp.

Yes you must use the Direct Servo amps. They are available through Rythmik Audio. I believe that they are currently $229 or $249. for the older models and they are in stock. I am sure Brian can chime in with the actual price.

The new amps have some really nice added features like an EQ system and variable 12db and 24db per octave settings. The new amps should come in at the $279 to $299 range. I'll make them available for order on my site as soon as they become available. The last time I spoke to Brian he said it would be the end of Feb. on these new ones.

Even if the new amps are $299 plus $149 for the woofer, that's only $448. That won't buy you the biggest, the loudest, or hardest hitting sub on the market. It gets you the best sounding, most accurate, most articulate, and most musical sub on the market. That sounds like a bargain to me.

It will also get you a flat response to below 20Hz in only a 1.5 cubic foot sealed box. I don't know of any other subs that can deliver that either, not with this level of driver control.

You can run all of these subs off of a conventional non-servo amp too. But why?

If you want a something in a lower price range we offer a great SW-12B model for only $99 each. There are a handful of amps listed here for under $100: http://www.apexjr.com/amps.html

Clearly there are less expensive alternatives if that is what you are looking for, but no greater quality can be had than these new servo driven combos at any price. They are that good.
