There is still something appealing about snatching a signal out of the atmosphere.
I have Kenwood R-5000 I bought almost 20 yrs. ago & it gets used on a regular basis.
To let Nap off the hook, he was being sarcastic about my listening to the BBC World Service through my audio setup.
While I would love to "snatch" the signal out of the atmosphere, BBC is broadcast locally on an FM station with a low power transmitter. Between that low power and the insane high rise construction in Singapore over the last 10 years, the SQ is much better taking the Internet feed than trying to lock onto an FM signal.
I still have my original Sony Shortwave receiver, but not much in English is broadcast in this region any more. Internet is definitely the way to go.
