Title: 6N2P-EV in Cornet 2
Post by: cyto on 3 Aug 2013, 03:06 am
I have a couple of these and want to try them in my Cornet 2 for the 12AX7's. I know they are not drop in replacements because of the heaters, I didn't want to run jumpers on the sockets so I ordered a couple of adapters so I could "roll back" easily.

My question is: Has anyone tried these and if so did you like the result?

I did a search and only 2 posts surfaced.

Thanks   :D

I think it was me who tried the tubes in Cornet 2. I like the sound of the tubes, but the noise level is higher than 12AX7, especially in the input position. I don't suggest using socket convertor at this position too.
Experimenting with several modifications of the circuit I came to some comparable noise/better sound (for me!), but I did it on my own PCB.
