Phil is right.  I thought he was very good in his support acting roles.
Sad how the Band broke up, but most bands do not have a smooth break up.
I read this last night, and have been looking for my copy of his book, "This Wheel's On Fire" everywhere.
His album last year, was quite good, if you like the rustic sound.
I also have a blu-ray copy of the "The Last Waltz".  His comments in the outtakes are good.  If you have that dvd, check out the extras, with the Staples Singers with the Band.  One of my favorite video/audio cuts.

Not only a great musician, but a great, caring member of the community. I live in the Hudson Valley, NY which is where Levon calls home. We have had the pleasure to be able to see him and his band quite regularly and often in support of local causes and organizations. Last year we saw them doing a benefit for the arts program in a local high school, free shows annually at a local farm, a benefit for folks impacted by Hurrican Irene.
You'll be sorely missed Levon!

A great artist that lived and performed authentically. Like Ray Charles, you felt there was truth in his voice, not mimicry. It served him well in his acting, too. His narration in the Right Stuff is very memorable, a highlight of that great film.

Debra told me a couple hours ago that Facebook fans post affectionate messages to Levon, and Levon's dear daughter reads the messages to him, bringing him joy and solace.
