"Curve crossover" in Epson 1280 output

I have an Epson 1280 and I can't get it to print a neutral greyscale, no matter what settings I try. Using the auto settings, I get a shift to green at 80% grey.

I have Pantone Profiler Pro and a Color Savvy Colormouse spectrophotometer, and even using these, I can not get the damn thing linear. I've used these tools  in the past and have gotten beautiful greyscales. (with both an Epson 1200 and 1280 that I just wore out)

This thing was just replaced at a local service center. (It prints the Epson nozzle check pattern fine)

Normally print from Pshop6 using MacOS 8.6, but get the same thing from Pshop7 and OSX from my Powerbook.

Any suggestions or online forums you can guide me to? Epson's online support is worthless.

I know that there was a website dedicated to epson printers. http://welcome.to/epson-inkjet

Not sure how up-to-date they are.
