New member introduction
« on: 18 Feb 2020, 04:06 pm »
Hi all,

I'm a newbie to the audio space and looking for some recommendations - hence the need for an Audiocircle forum login and this introduction post!

I don't have any experience with high end systems or speakers, but I listen to a lot of music and really appreciate quality sound. For reference, the highest quality setup I have listened to is Infinity Beta 20's and a Pioneer A/V multi channel receiver, VSX-1014TX. That needs to change!

I look forward to learning more and hope to get a system picked out so I can start saving up.

Best Regards,
Epikplatypus

Welcome!

There's never been a better time to get into quality audio.  Examples:

1.)  CD quality subscription streaming ($15-20 per month) opens the door to millions of albums and saves the cost of local storage;

2.)  Active speakers (like studio professionals use) are cheaper than passive speakers due to having the power amps built-in (a wonderful example is the $300/pair JBL 305 Mk2 that can fill a medium sized room or be used on a desktop);

3.)  Inexpensive DAC/preamps abound, the $470 Sabaj D5 being just one.  But perhaps a better product is the $550 NAD Node 2i which includes an operating system and eliminates the need for a computer (except as a control option).

This compact, simple, affordable system should satisfy for a long time and get you very far along the road to the high-end of audio.
