phonosection mods
« on: 24 Jan 2007, 04:55 pm »
I remember reading about someone converting their phono section to 9pin miniature tubes.
I can't find the post now though. :duh:
My pre is getting checked over while my tt is getting repaired and the tech suggested some tweaks. I was curious what tweaks people have done to their phono sections. Also what is the deal with using nude resistors? I know Dr Lloyd changed the resistor value for the led to make it dimmer, what is the new value?
Thanks in advance, Bill

Berndt:  I think you can put in any resistor that will match the load for your cartridge.  I don't have a lot of experience with different brands but the Vishay Nudes are considered some of the finest.

How's that umbilical cord working out for you.  Surprised that you haven't written much about it.  Were you disappointed?

I didn't get a good solder joint on the new connectors, and since my tt was in the shop I brought the u4 in too. He is going to recap the p/s with black gates, and I think I'll wait to do any other mods until I get the tt up and running. The umbilical didn't sound "solid" but I think that was my crummy solder joints.
