- The Evo One is a high-control amplifier
One good thing about the Evo One is even powering a speaker that it can easily power, it still won't over-damp(over-control) the speaker. If an amplifier is too strong, dynamics might be slightly compressed, but it didn't happen.
- The first pair of tested speaker is the Finnish Amphion floor stand speaker. This pair of speakers is a little hard to push, but with Evo One it sounds quite relaxing.
The sound of this speaker is very raw. If the sound of your amplifier is also raw, it may become rough/hash. But the sound coming out of this combination is quite stable and balance. The Evo sounds fine with this speaker.
- The second pair is ProAc. With the ProAc Tablette 10 Signature, it is a 11ohm and fully sealed speaker, so no need for high-power amplifiers. But if the power is too low, due to the "air cushion bass driver" design, all the bass is from this single driver. If the amplifier is not strong enough, the bass will go missing, and the low frequency will be insufficient.
It might not matter if the room is small, but in the size of the reviewer's listening room, he can clearly hear that which amplifier can drive the bass and which can't.
Evolution One can push the bass out of Tablette 10.
As we all know, with ProAc, tube amp is an ideal match, but not so much with Class D.
But Evo One's tonal balance and the interpretation of the music can match with the ProAc.
If you feel that your speakers don't match Class D, with this Evolution One, you don't have to worry. It actually does not sound like Class D.
- The third speaker is Sonus Faber, the most expensive one.
It has beautiful in soundstage, strong 3D feeling, micro-dynamic is great and density is high.
- From small bookshelf to floor stand speakers, they can all be paired with Evolution One.
Its power is great without over-control. It has the speed of Class D, but there is no thin sound of Class D.
