Hi, group. I am in Creve Coeur. (is there a Gene in this group? I have met a local enthusiast through another site.)
I have some jbl 580 horns for a LCR hooked to an Onkyo. And I have a couple of systems I am designing that use hypex plate amps.
For the last few months, I have been working on a far-field speaker for the living room. It uses a 15" woofer, 8" mid, and 1" dome with no baffle.

It is still a WIP but it will soon go from foam to wood.

Using the Hypes plate amps should make it easier and provide good results.

Hey! You are just a little west of me!
I checked out your profile/system. Those lowthers look super cool. It looks like a full-range with no baffle.
Do you have a fav. speaker?

Thanks!
I dig them. The downside is they make me want to make many speakers since an XO becomes a file that I swap in and out instead of XO parts.
I looked at your pics too. The arrays look insane. Congrats on making something crazy!

Welcome :D

I like the Lowther PM2A a lot but the PM6A that I have is a bit more forgiving in a no baffle scheme. Haven’t had them hooked up in years but I might dig them out for fun now that you brought it up. Crossover to a bass bin is around 300-325 Hz.

Welcome to GAS! There's a lot of speaker experimenters around here.
Hypex plate amps (and Hypex modules in general) are nice, very nice indeed.

Welcome to the group Headshake.
I use JBL in my system but definitely not a DIY'er

Welcome!
I used to be a speaker DIYer, but I gave it up. Quality commercial designs make me happy enough to forget about most speaker projects.
There's a lot of us crazies around here. Summertime is slow for most audio things. I think I've heard about you from Gene!
