Original Super 3
« on: 9 Nov 2012, 05:56 pm »
I'm trying to sell an original pair of Super 3's, but so far I've had no luck... In the event I can't sell them I wonder if they could be upgraded? Or, does anyone have a suggestion about what inexpensive amp I could use with it. I tried it with a Easter Electric minimax integrated, and didn't like the sound. It seemed flat, thin, and too under powered. I'm eyeing a Dayens Ampino...

Thanks!

Hi plakey,

Thanks and it's very easy to upgrade. Would take 10 minutes to do and definitely worth it. The ampino will sound great with them.

Thanks,
Louis

Thanks Louis. I tried them with an Eastern Electric minimax integrated, and didn't like the results so much. At bit thin, no heft. I'm just using an ipod with AIFF files (no DAC) so the source might be part of the problem, but it's my 3rd "Studio" system and I just want to listen casually while I work.

If I decide to get the upgrade, how do I proceed?

Hi plakey,

I know the EE minimax and it's pretty good. It may be the source. The new drivers have a lot more bass and mid-bass though and this will take care of it. Break in is also very short.

I can take the order via email or over the phone.

Thanks,
Louis
