I bought one of these about two years ago. I'm using it for a secondary system.
I really like my SOs vintage KLH 21 radio, so I got this to plug into the system.
I've got a tube system too, so I suppose I could look for a KLH 8 to stay pure tube.

So far, so good. I suppose I could have gotten a Tivoli Model 1, but this works fine. I've got a PAL in case the power goes out, or if I need a portable system, like if I wanted to see if something I found at a garage sale actually works.
Why doesn't Tivoli just make a tuner?

i have one, refurb'd/aligned by the p.o.  it is a decent tuna, definitely retro-cool.  i was actually quite surprised by its sound, tho not quite as good as some of the better usual suspects.  (like sansui tu717, for example.)  reception is also quite good - unless you are in a really difficult fringe reception area, it works nicely.

they will typically sell for ~$50-$100 assuming they work, and depending on cosmetic condition.  mine is the only one i have ever seen that someone actually bothered to refurb, w/new caps/resistors/etc...

as you can see in this pic, it is not the only retro-cool looking tuna that i have.   and, this is yist the tip of the iceberg!

as i am presently knee-deep in tuna, i would consider selling, if you want to make me an offer.  you can send me a pm...

Have a model 8, but not for sale.
the klh model 8 is a completely different animal - it is a wery nice tubed mono table radio that has its own built-in amplifier, wolume control, treble control, and it came w/a matching speaker.  there was an awailable matching speaker/mpx/amplifier set that could be hooked up to allow for stereo.  the 18 is a stand-alone s/s stereo tuna that needs to plugged into a preamp or integrated amp...  the model 8 is generally relatively expensive, as it is prized by collectors.  collectors also like the 18, but it is not as coveted, likely because it has to compete w/many other outstanding stand-alone tunas; not as many quality table radios out there.

i have a wery nice wintage ge stereo table radio - quite a bit larger than the klh 8; i picked one up because my father used to have one exactly the same - it sounds quite decent; especially after i replaced caps when it started to hum...   8)
