This is a nifty tape calibrated in 1/4 wavelength (http://www.haningemusik.se/en/accessories/1587-acoustitape.html) to read out expected SBIR freqencies. Does anyone have a US source for this? (Maybe GIK should make something similar?)

I'd not seen that before. That's pretty slick actually.
-
Genelec has had that for a while as I recall. I agree, it's quite clever.
-
Based on what I read from Gadget Geek it can be purchased direct through genelec.com.
Around 15 bucks.

I'll stick with my Bosch laser + simple math, but it would be cool if Bosch made a version that also displayed that info.

$31 all in to the states

Math is good. As well as an understanding. Formulas in the link below.

I rely on my mic and REW. It does take time, but since I'll be confirming with a measurement anyway, why not just pull out the mic and REW first and be done?
Best,
Anand.

Sheesh! I wasn't rejecting math and measurements. I use them all the time -- measurements are the only way to know what's really going on in an actual room.
But I still think this tape is a useful shortcut and would love to have one (but not at twice the UK price).

Both are good. When I was experimenting with time/phase alignment I both measured and did the math, luckily they agreed with one another! :)

Not to offend! I realize the tape can be a nice initial guide for some which they can then fine tune with measurements. I figure the tape can be useful in situations where one cannot set up a mic and laptop or have a time crunch. That being said I think minidsp is working on an app to configure their mic with an iPad plus software.
Best,
Anand.

Anand - No offense taken! Mike
