The floor

Idle idea: Iturns out not to be too hard to control resonance off the walls. There are traps for that. But floor to ceiling, the usual advice is to put down a rug or redo the ceiling.

A rug is rarely over 1/2" thick, and even a fluffy expensive wool one isn't going to each much. But I'm wondering if building a raised platform (not much - a few inches) at the seating position, filling it with fiberglass, and topping it with thin (supported) plywood with holes drilled, and covered with carpet, is worthwhile. At, say, 4" thick and half filled with fiberglass, it would be something like a 16 sq ft flat trap.

At any rate, simple wood construction on the floor might be easier than redoing a ceiling. Comments?
