Aretha reminds us how it's done

Wow! Killer performance. That led to this, also by Aretha, in 1998:

One of my favorite Italian arias, Aretha knocks it out of the park.
Thanks for posting Russell and Happy New Year

BISL inadvertently turned me on to this one. Thanks, Bob!  :thumb:

Not really a 'video', just the song. A main system must: Sara Bareilles - (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay (Live Radio Single):

So.....
My son is 17, and his taste is music are nothing short of amazing. They rival mine.
That being said, I share as much music with him as I possible can, as often as I can.
I thought I'd share this with you. It's a copy and paste of an email I sent him:

-========================

This song is from 1973. It's been done a few times over the years, with a "modern" spin.
I like this version. It pays homage to the original version, with respect.

Seems this band understands that. I really dig this.

I have no appropriate intro to this that would do it justice.
Just crank it up.

I'm surprised that nobody has posted an Opeth link. For music on the heavier side, I love this band, so here's 'Burden'.

I'm not surprised none of this has been posted. To demonstrate my weird taste in music, here's Faun - a German medieval folk band.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zr8d9sXioj4

Omnia is another in that vein, and I adore Jenny's Celtic harp playing. Here she is with Steve performing a traditional Swedish tune that's quite lovely.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xsOSn82F_U

Maybe you'd enjoy a different kind of harp playing, so here's Camille & Kennerly performing Metallica's 'One' (on one harp).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhOhGhq0e54

Speaking of Metallica, I think 'Nothing Else Matters' is a beautiful piece of music, and the Brooklyn Duo's cover is quite moving.

If you love listening to the cello as much as I do, Mischa Maisky playing Bach's Cello Suite No.1 in G will definitely move you.

One of the most beautiful voices to ever grace Faun's lineup was that of Elisabeth Pawelke, singing here Ave Mers Sterne.

Here's another lady that I think has a beautiful voice, Azam Ali.

Mr Georgopoulos, you posted this only 17 days ago (post #315 Dec 21st.)

I bit my tongue the first time but your posting this twice makes me feel justified in saying this:
To me this represents some sort of low point in our musical history. See the lead singer forget the lyrics at 4:32, reads them off the floor from 4:33 to 4:35, blowing the lip sync. The keyboardists lazily smacking the keys more or less in the direction of the right notes. The lame small pillars of smoke at regular intervals, reminiscent of Spinal Tap in their disco phase.
Not impressed. I suppose that it's possible even disco can be good. This is not—but, hey, that's just my opinion.

This certainly isn't an official video, but it's really cool. Somebody noticed that the short film on which Walt Disney and Salvador Dali were collaborating in 1946 has the same run time as Opeth's 'I Feel the Dark', so he decided to run the two together (like 'The Wizard of Oz' and 'Dark Side of the Moon') and the combination is pretty amazing.

George, either we live in utterly different musical worlds or you have an incredible sense of humor.
I wish it were the latter.

I'm with Russell in wondering if George is serious or not.

Back on track, I've not had much time to listen recently, and have a huge backlog of music to listen to (except for Georges  ) so thanks for everybody posting videos!
