A better front end sounds better of course, but an underpowered (current drive, not nominal watts) amp and edgy front end is not going to work well with these.


i have an underpowered amp and edgy fronts - so it probably wont work as well - maybe if i stand on my head backwards with just my right eye closed that will solve the issue.

Matchups are always the key to satisfaction in the end: front end->amp-> speakers-> room -> cables-> listener

The BMR's are actually tilted down slightly to compensate for their extremely broad dispersion.  It's difficult to know exactly where to strike the balance since rooms differ so much in size and absorption.
