Thunder in the basement. This 45 amp has the tightest, deepest bass of any SET amp I've had, along with the magic that, IMO, only a 45 can deliver. Deja Vu makes occasional amps--SETs only, as far as I know, but please correct me--with a combination of vintage and modern parts. 45 amps offer the loveliest 1.5 or 2 watts I've heard, but your speakers need to be up--or down--to the task. This one's a "real gem," a friendly audio trooper emailed me. I know of only one 45 amp you can get for less than $1K, let alone one of this quality.
I'm the un-tech person, but previous owner said this amp has 1960s Tango output transformers, vintage chokes, and Western Electric coupling caps. Along with the 45s, the amp uses 12AX7s and a 5Y3. You can gander the guts in photo. (I'm against freeriding in my ads on other people's ads, but if you're seriously interested, PM me and I'll send you the link to that earlier listing that talked about the components and had prettier photos than mine and was selling the amp for quite a bit more than I'm asking.)
There's a touch of homemade about Deja Vu amps (a couple extra holes in the top plate), and there was damage to the left rear corner of the wood chassis (see photo). So I'll rate this a 7, but it's a handsome piece to my eyes.
