new product! Power Broker
« on: 19 Feb 2013, 05:00 am »
I've been working with Alex at WyWires to jointly develop a serious power strip.  what we have noticed is that many of our customers are moving away from audiophile conditioners and going straight to the wall.  we feel the best solution is a solid box with extremely high quality specialty outlets and cabled in a manner that stabilizes phase.

so here it is: the Power Broker

Very nice Lou!

Will this have a fixed or removable power cord?

Will we have to be a successful Stock Broker to purchase the Power Broker?

Any more details? Does it offer conditioning? Is it suitable for high powered amps? Is there any surge protection? Voltage regulation?

Guys, sounds and looks like an outlet box with no conditioning to me.  How much for the box with no guts?

Let's not encourage them.  How about $300 sans outlets and inlet?

Beautiful look btw.  The "stand" is a nice elegant touch.

I'd concur and probably an extra $600 for the Gordon Gekko power cord 8)

Very nice Lou!

Will this have a fixed or removable power cord?

the cord is fixed. several reasons for that, one being better connections through to the outlet but primarily that the specially designed cord is made to help clean up the power and is integral to the performance of the unit.  it really does make a difference.  yes I know there are other good power cords, but this is a big part of the design.

thanks,
lou

the whole point of this is for gear that functions better and does not need excessive power conditioning, and also to be totally transparent. some conditioners are used like some cables to 'voice' a system. this is to just give very high end gear the power it needs without any tonal manipulation.

in my systems I use the Power Broker from the wall for the power amps and pre amps, and to power Furman voltage regulation for source and ancillary gear.

this is NOT a piece for someone looking for surge protection etc or to 'voice' their system, this is made for gear that sounds better when NOT plugged into any power conditioner.

thanks,
lou

sorry but this is not going to be sold piecemeal, also the box and cover plate take a bit more work and expertise than some may think

the coverplate alone is a beauty, made for me by one of my favorite luthiers using instrument grade fiddleback maple!

a little perspective here....

http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue58/sinfo.htm

this review also can point to some of the inherent problems of NOT hardwiring the cable!  I am a bit mystified by the use of an IEC since the power cable and connections are so critical to making something like this worthwhile.

thanks,
lou
