You all will enjoy the LIQUIDs... Klaus asked me to return my LIQUIDs but I can't as I'm still breaking them in.

Warnings, these beauties LIQUIDS are killing my ears since day 1 I brought them home. Now that I can't listen to other speakers. As of now I have in them about 300 hours. I feel they still have more potential to come.

Hopefully, you can join us for dinner. Not sure yet on the venue but I don't need a huge steak (a smaller one is fine).

Only place with decent steak within walking distance looks like Mykonos Grill (http://www.mykonosgrill.com/#_=_). They got filet and lamp chops -- no cowboy 32 oz cuts though.  I made a reservation for 10.  Let me know if there is a better alternative.  I can cancel this one.  If this is the best place, chime in here to join us for dinner.  Klaus, Alex, lovely Irina and yours truly make 4.  I am sure we will have 6 or more, right?  I will call the restaurant with final number after we get a head count.

Reservation is for Friday August 28th at 7 PM.

Chef Geoff's Rockville (http://www.chefgeoff.com/) has NY strip and food is usually good (in other locations that I've eaten at) but it's too long a walk, right?

Riff's Lounge and Restaurant at the hotel also has filet and NY strip.  I don't know about the quality and it will be busy.  Service could be really slow.  What do you think?

You guys will have a great time! One day I will have to plan a trip to go to one of these audio shows to check out some great gear (including the legendary Kismet Liquids and Monos). Plus the chance to hang out with some knowledgeable audiophile/engineers would be icing on the cake. I don't have much experience/knowledge, but Klaus has done me right and I trust his company.  :thumb:

Which are the best shows at the moment?

David Berning can't make it to any dinners but he can join for a lunch perhaps.

I'm sure others will attend if invited like last time.

That place isn't a steak house. It's a Greek place. They may have a steak, but it isn't the same.

Isn't there an actual steak house nearby? I don't care if it is a chain. Just somewhere that can get served a steak, baked potato, and a salad like everywhere else.

I called and talked to Nicks Chophouse in Rockville. they have prime aged black angus beef and the largest ribeye they offer is a 18 oz. I explained to them that we would most likely bring a large party and that Rays in Silver Spring although they don't have it on the regular menu offered us a 32oz cowboy cut ribeye.I will call the Manager at Nicks tomorrow and see if they can do the same thing for us next weekend.

Didn't realize in my absence (from the DC area) over the past couple of years that Rim went on a diet. :green:

Bunky is making arrangement for 36oz cowboy steaks.  I will call and change the reservation to http://www.nickschophouserockville.com/ (http://www.nickschophouserockville.com/).  We have to drive to the location from the show but it's not too far.

I got Klaus, Alex, Phil, Steve, Bunky and Me so far.  I will post this on the CAF thread on the show circle too.

Excellent pic, thanks Phil!

That room looks slightly easier to work with than the one Klaus had at Newport...

Would be nice if Peter Breuninger stopped by for one of his short videos of the room and sound. For some reason Klaus' rooms are one of the few that actually sound good on YouTube.

They sound wonderful and a bargain at their price point - spent some time helping set them up as I was putting together a spare rack (off the the side and not in the picture) since I own one of them - drove from FL Thursday and was up until around 2AM in the Odyssey room

The bass was really deep and extended.  Don't know what the specs are but if I had to make a guess from what I listened (I should have brought the outboard microphone for the iPhone to use with the Audio Tools app but didn't think about it before I left) I'd bet the -3db point would be between 25-30Hz and probably a bit closer to 25.

We used the literally unbelievable Kismet monoblocs in our room, and talked about them almost as much as our own product!
The Liquid Kismet speakers were truly impressive when we stopped by to say hi to Klaus -  some guy was just playing his Radiohead CD, and our reaction was "whoa..... " [stop...sit...listen...listen...]

Kismet liquid with 2 woofers has better mid-range than the 1 woofer version from last year.  Dynamics are the same with may be a little more lower extension -- hard to tell as there were some room issues with bass.  Scanspeak Illuminator Beryllium Tweeter always soared and that remains the same.  The additional woofer must have freed up the midrange to sing.  Vocals are more liquid.  Good shit you know, as Klaus with say.  :thumb:

I had a wonderful extended listening session with Klaus and Alex in the Odyssey room after dinner on Friday night that lasted for over two hours. I have had a eleven + year history with Klaus and Odyssey Audio, I told Klaus at dinner Friday night that I wanted him to build me a Kismet Stereo amplifier with a chrome faceplate. after thinking it over while spending the weekend at CAF 2015 I decided that a pair of Kismet mono blocks with chrome faceplates was what I really wanted.a Candela reference preamp with Mundorf caps and a chrome faceplate and knobs is something else that I really want but I will put that on the back burner for now. did anyone else check out the chrome faceplates that Klaus had on his gear at the CAF 2015 show?

Yes - looked really sharp.  My Candela is black. I tend to go with black as I have some integrated AV systems and find watching a movie that silver and something with shine is distracting.  My Candela is in an audio only system (as of right now although it does have HT Bypass) and while I think the chrome looks sharper, I might find it distracting as well in the dark listening to music.  When I started with my first audio separates about 35 years back (when I was 4 years old of course ), I always at silver and hated anything else and wouldn't even buy something that wasn't silver.

We had a great time at the past CAF show...got back to Indy yesterday at 3:00AM! It was very nice to meet some of you (William, Phil) personally and  finally (it was time!)  :o Now I have a name with a face

Special thanks to Phil that help us setup Thursday well-deep into the night and Woodsyi at the end packing and carrying to the trailer  :thumb: :thumb:

Also what a great time Friday night at dinner...thank you "SeƱor Embajador" (Rim)  :thumb:  :thumb:

While the room overall sounded very good we had a very unique "boom" in the 180-210Hz region which I attributed to the room! Both Klaus and I concluded the room (Jefferson) was a little to big. We will get a smaller ballroom next year.

Thanks to everyone that attended, visited and spend some time with us  :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

After the Newport Show, the 1st 2 weeks with the Liquid at home, I did find that not only little "boom" but a lot of booming... finally my friend & I figured it out how to get rid of the "boom". The main cause is the carpet underneath the bottom of the speakers. So far in my 22x22x9 ft room with complete kismets I did not find any "boom" at all. These LIQUID are now truly LIQUID in my room. Words cannot describe how good these LIQUID are.

Just noticed the rack has the veneer trim to match the speakers...very cool.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh,  another show in the books....here are my bullet points:

- Room...good thing, it was not Newport..bad thing ..it was wayyyy too big...as Alex said, we had another traveling frquency hump...checked out the speakers today to make sure it's not the cabinet..nope.
- Sound:  there were some really good rooms...Backert, Lou and Jim's rooms,  Vinnie's was really interesting, and I actually liked the Volti and the Tidal's...and then there was a LOT of crap.  Our room...the really, really great benefit of the large room was a soundstage 1200 feet deep and wide...holy shit it was awesome..overall very, very pleased.
- Show itself:  as always, Capfest is the most fun and most intimate of all...however, I don't like the new venue or it's location,  and attendance was wayyyyy  down..a shame, because Gary Gill is one of the coolest guys I know and he deserves a bigger success...
- People...what can I say...awesome companies.........

Summary:  Exhaustive (especially driving 1400 miles with a trailer) but fun, fun, fun...also, came out with tons of new records, an ultrasonic record cleaner, and the full whammy magnet drive / 2 arms / VPI Avenger,  which is over the top ridiculous....
