GR Power cable question

I am wondering how the ground wire runs in these cables?
Does it run down the middle in a tube, or is it coiled around the out side of the braiding ?

It's in the middle of the braided section.

So I'm assuming it's in a tube of some sort and no cotton rope ?

If it's like my prototype, I believe it's in a flexible tube, but I could be wrong on that.

It is in the center of a 1/2" diameter cotton rope.
