Bi-amping with Bryston 4B-ST and 6B-ST
« on: 28 Jan 2011, 06:45 am »
Do those amps have the same sensitivity? from the search function, it seems that all the bryston ST/SST have the same gain..i.e. I can mix and match different vintages of Brystons with no adverse effects. Kindly confirm?
I know the balanced/unbalanced switch is what determines the gain. would I be better off using XLR for both amps or can I use RCA and XLR for the two sets?
Enquiring as attempting to power B&W N803.. Tried it with 6B-ST and it's not coming alive. It was better bi-amped with another 4B-ST. (6BST is equivalent to 6BSST, should I upgrade the 4BST to SST for a better match)
Or am I barking up the wrong tree.. and I should be considering a Torus instead?
My room has 20A dedicated lines each feeding one Bryston 4BST and Bryston 6BST.
Pleaese share with me your thoughts.
