Signature TVC - double c-core, dual mono
« on: 8 Jul 2008, 09:47 am »
hi fellow,

The new Signature TVC is just arrived at my home. I want to audit it right the way but I am out of town until this weekend.
I've owned a S&B copper mk3 based TVC for long time. I like it much better than some generic tube pre.
Being not audit any other Promitheus product before, I bought the Signature simply because it is built in double c-core. I was told it could be much better sounding than other form of winding. Last but not the least, it is Promitheus product reputation, of course.
Not sure if I'm lucky enough to be the 1st customer. I don't aware of any topic of double c-core tvc.
Will try to post my impression Vs S&B at my soonest.

Just learn from Audiogon there is Signature TVC user since early this year.
Not too long the delivery lead time, it is 3 months upon payment.
And Nick told me that it take 1,000 hrs the burn. I'll be patient then. aa

:D I wish I could manage my writing better, the Signature is simply much closer to real thing. And its performance is still evolving..... :D

Chang,
Can you post some pictures of the inside?  Thanks

I have the Reference C-core version and did notice a big improvement over the standard EI core.

Yes, I would post a more detail review upon the burn complete. So far I'm very excited and satisfied with its performance.

Mine one inner look.

hi, jadisboy

As title, mine one is "double c-core" not merely "c-core". The difference lies in wounding topology.
I don't think the "Signature" is ever encoded on Promitheus web page, isn't it? Should Nick clarify this.

Can anyone give me an idea about what kind of differences I could expect from this unit and the original Dual-Box-Mono? If it is worth it I may upgrade when I am able. Thanks.
http://www.promitheusaudio.com/dualmono.htm
this format he says the difference

I have the Dual Box (I'm guessing Rev3?). I meant the difference between that one and the Reference C-core version.
the reference C-core  TVC he have  transformers  c-core and is better from EI transformers
this is the different
