Shuguang FU80, supposed to be about 1500 of them left in China, saw and heard a 200w/ch SET amp using them last year, it was stunning.

Hi Listens,

I've had a toe in the hollow state since about 1981 when I acquired my first high-end preamp, a Precision Fidelity C7A (which I wish I still had).  But I really went over the deep end in the late '90s when I stated collecting vintage gear and tubes.

But my reaction was to Kyrill's desire for a photo of Zero's pant flying off.   :nono: :jester:

Ian,

That is one big, beautiful, bottle!  I would love to see that thing in full glow.

Have a great day,
Jake

Hey Nathan, you beat me to it. It's just as well as I could never produce a photo like that.

That is a RCA 829B, used in the Dodd Mono 50s (which I own). It puts out 48 watts and IME sounds closest to a KT66.

If it sounds the way it looks...
I would love such an amp
if my wife would enter then,  my dedicated FU 80 room
i would appreciate her to make a little bow to the amp first
and when leaving the room by walking slowly backwards with her back to the door

Yeah I would like that :green: :green: :thumb:

Ian,

Those look like 833s.  If so, those are super triodes, capable of serious power but run on exceedingly high voltage (>2kv typically).  Scary, not to mention the heat production.

Whoops, just saw you said it was the FU-80.  Probably in a similar family.

Not really sure about the details, looked in thru the power supply (lower box) and didn't see anything really heavy duty for HV. Tried hard to get one shipped in for testing, maybe later this year :) The picture doesn't do it justice.

Cheers,
Ian
