ICE based amps with TVC?
« on: 3 Dec 2009, 08:30 pm »
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has used any ICE based amps with the TVC. I am specifically looking at Wyred 4 Sound's SX-1000 mono-blocks at the moment to go with my Reference C-Core. But the sensitivity is a bit low at 2.95V (for 570W at 8Ohms). My CDP outputs 2.2Volts. Not that I require 570W, but it is a "good to have feature". I checked with Nicholas and others and the suggestion I get is to keep the sensitivity <= 1.5V.

Thanks,

Nic is correct. Are you sure the input sensitivity is 2.95 ? seems high. That said it means you will have to turn up the volume control quite a bit and still may not have enough volume or dynamics. Check out D-Sonic. IMO just as good as the Wyred, same people I believe.

Thanks Charles. I have lately started to look into Channel Island D-200/500, as they are are designed to be used with a passive preamp. And they seem to have a gain of 38 db for passive preamps.
