Title: ps3 slim connections
Post by: MaxCast on 19 Apr 2010, 04:33 pm
How do you connect a ps3 slim?  I don't have a hdmi receiver.
hdmi to tv, digital to the receiver?  Does the slim have 5.1 or 7.1 analogue outs?
I want a BDP and my boys like the opportunity for a new game machine.

That should work.  Looks to only have an optical out, though.

Looks to have the same proprietary analogue output, which I think is just an RGB and stereo connection.

I have a PS3 slim and there are a couple ways to connect it:
1) HDMI
2) Optical audio
3) Left/Right/Video cable that Sony provides (White/Red/Yellow to Sony's rectangular plug thing)
You can connect it right to the TV, its best via HDMI
Let me know if you need anymore info...Ed

Thanks guys I was hoping it would decoded true, hd, master, super duper hi rez audio and output it via 7.1.  I guess I need a new receiver too.  :)

I may have found the new receiver Pioneer 1020

controllable via iphone app   :D
now if it could stream audio from my computer I wouldn't want to buy a touch-n-squeeze.

I may have found the new receiver Pioneer 1020 ... controllable via iphone app

Damn technology!  I have a perfectly good non-HDMI receiver that all of a sudden seems terribly weak.
