I would like to start getting a list together of people who would be interested in the tour.

So far I have:
1. JohnR - Australia
2. Wayne1 - USA
3. aldcoll - USA
4. otto802 - USA
5. JerryM - USA
6. Studio19atx - USA
7. poseidonsvoice - USA
8. stellarelephant - USA
9. gstew - USA

I will keep this post updated with full list. Please let me know if you would like to be added. And let me know what country you are in.

I would also like to make sure that everybody agrees to pay shipping to next person on the list, and to not keep the unit for more than one week.

JohnR is in Australia. I am in Colorado.

You may want to make 2 units available. One for US and one for overseas to reduce shipping charges.

JohnR

I don't need to be on the tour :) Was just making the suggestion.

You can add Oregon to the list.

I was able to get the Moode Audio install script to run no problem (*), installing Moode onto the boot SD card.

I wasn't able to get audio working to a USB DAC though, and in the process of trying to get it working it appears to have damaged itself, as I can no
longer view or set any of the configuration parameters (browser just hangs).

At any rate, Volumio is essentially the same thing isn't it?

(*) Apart from lack of feedback about what was going on and seemingly undocumented login details after the first reboot. FYI the hostname is changed to moode, username is still pi and password is moodeaudio.

I got moOde running. What a pain in the ass. I used the image builder utility.

After the utility makes the image and you boot it up it takes about another 2.5 to 3 hours for the software to configure itself.

The progress of the configuration can be monitored via SSH with the following 3 commands:
mosbrief
moslog
moslast

While the configuration is running you cannot do anything else or it will screw it up.

Backing up SD card as this is being typed...

I will be starting this tour soon, looks like it will be US only. So far there are 5 people.

Wayne1 will receive the unit first.

Can you make sure it's setup as a Roon endpoint please?

I do not have Roon.

It will have Moode Audio, Volumio and Rune Audio as options.

I will be mailing out the unit to Wayne1 on Monday.

I will also start another forum topic for ApplePi DAC feedback.

Is this a good place to put the feedback / review thread?

Are you sending out a Raspberry Pi and DAC stack or just the DAC?

Raspberry Pi + ApplePi DAC + 5.25V Power Supply, with three SD Cards (Volumio, Rune Audio and Moode).

Included will also be a thumb drive with sample Hi-Res tracks.

Its all assembled and ready to go, you just have to choose the SD card that you want, or you can try all three.

The first review of the ApplePi DAC is out; check it out:

"Ok, specs are great and all, but how did it really sound? Frankly, very good, surprisingly good."
and
"The mid-range and truthiness of the music rivaled that of the other DACs I have on hand that cost significantly more."
