Coming soon to your location - shelter in place
« on: 17 Mar 2020, 12:18 am »
Well, it's finally happened in the SF Bay area. I also heard that New Jersey has instituted an 8:00 PM curfew. Stores and super markets are nuts. And what's with people hoarding toilet paper? Diarrhrea is not a typical symptom of the virus. Looks like I will be doing a lot more listening than I typically do. Hope every
one stays healthy and can cope with the restrictions. I feel for all of the service sector people who will be out of jobs and for the small business owners.

Agreed. One question is could this go from recession to depression, with so many low income people living paycheck to paycheck.

About the toilet paper, it was said on a radio program that in times of health problems, peoples sense of disgust gets heightened (think dead bodies, smells, etc.) and that part of what is going on with the TP hoarding is a (subconscious) way of dealing with that sense of disgust. By surrounding yourself with an ability to keep things less disgusting. Just don't squeeze the Charmin....

This morning I went online to find toilet paper near me or 100 miles away.
    NONE!!!!!!!!!!! NADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Crazy isn't it.
This Sunday my date lady and I are having dinner at Celadon in Napa, Ca.
No problem so far but I'll call them Saturday to make sure we are a go.

                                             Cheers

Charlie,

When you call to confirm your reservation, it might be a good idea to inquire if their commodes have all the necessary documents in order - just in case.

A lot of people were disappointed when Sears started printing on glossy paper. The next shortage will be plumbers.

I thought that I should start posting here, as I'm in the Bay Area.

Charlie, I hope that you're able to have a nice dinner in Napa, but they may be under lock down as well.  I was able to have a nice anniversary dinner at a famous place in Yountville last Wednesday, but things have changed this week.  I think the shelter at home is for the best.  The volumes in emergency departments have dropped, but I know that this is the calm before the storm.

Now, 4 Brooklyn Nets players including KD tested positive.

I also saw these posts and thought I'd share.  This is beginning to hit home.  The doc went to an emergency conference in New York only to feel unwell two days later at home.

That is a very good idea. I never thought about that. I will ask them when I call Saturday.
My date lady says if we can't go we'll get take out from Little Shin Shin.

                                                       Cheers

Where did you have dinner in Yountville? Two places I like are Bottega and Bistro Jeanty. Hope you didn't go to
the French Laundry. Not on my bucket list.

Gulp, yes it was TFL.  It was nice seeing the staff again and them remembering us.  It's been about 3 years since we were last there.  I also like Chiarello's restaurant and Jeanty.

Try Michael Warring in American Canyon. Eight course tasting menu Twelve course on Thursdays Wine paring is about $30.00
Very best tasting menu I ever had. Better than Micheal Minas and Gary Danko's in S.F. And it don't cost an arm and a leg!!!!
Small place have to make a reservation a month ahead.

                                                                                Cheers

Thanks for the tip Charlie.  I'll look into it.  We also like Atelier Crenn, Benu, Quince, Californios and Acquerello in the city.  Oh, ONE65 Bistro and O' were good too.  It's kinda quiet there...for now.  We haven't been to Mina's in SF, but I have a reservation at Mina's in the Bellagio, Las Vegas for May.  I do like Danko's scallops, risotto and souffles.  Good eats, but we'll have to see when the shelter-in-place is lifted.

Yep I know.  Most hotels and casinos are closed until the end of the month.  I'll wait and see what happens in April.

Sorry about this Charlie.  This was expected.  I hope that you have alternative plans and do a take out with candlelight at home .

We are now on state wide shelter in place.  This is what is needed.  Everyone please stay safe and be well.

    Hi Ken:
So far we are okay. seems like nobody is safe from the virus.
My daughter Krissy bought a $94.00 meat pack from Kinder's today. There is enough food in the pack to feed us for a month.
It is not all meat. Combination of pork, chicken, hamburger and other very tasty items. I'll ask my date lady if she would like
to come to my house for a BBQ. Of course we will have to stay six apart. Fat chance of that.

                                                    Cheers
                                                   Charlie
