I'm posting this one purely as a mind exercise and perhpaps as a tribute to Malcom Fear who would surely have approved of an AKSA turntable.
I was looking at a well respected turntable a little while back that used a vast slab of turned wood to provide vibration damping mass. Also incorported in the table were a series of holes filled with lead shot [that should give it away by now
]. To me the design was overkill but that's not really the point of this post. It occurred to me that a great way to make a turntable would be to use alternating layers of dense wood along with lead sheet sandwiched between it. This would have great damping qualities [and not just ballast properies]. You could also have a central lead core as a mounting point for the bearing. OK, so there's a lot more to a turn table than this but maybe others would like to contribute their brain power to a revolutionary [sorry couldn't resist it] design of another mythical Aksa product.
