I am making a trip to Danny's in a couple of weeks and I'm bringing along my new (and well loved) Klipsch Forte III speakers.  For a full ride upgrade.  Can you tell I'm excited?  Oh hell yeah!  Watch this space... :thumb: :drums: :guitar:

As a former Forte III owner, I would be interested too.

It was a type-o.  I used to have the Heresies but I gave them to my dad when I got the Forte's.

Given the moderately poor measurements of the stock unit, poor step response, mediocre off axis curves in the lateral planes, and finally wonky impedance/phase curves [you call that SET compatible?? What?], etc ...I am greatly looking forward to seeing what Danny can do with it (if he can address those issues at all since some of that is intrinsic to the horn design itself).  Yes, they are a “high sensitivity” design and they can play loud but they will not image or stage well which is why they appeared to be your “fun” speaker with your daughter!

Sadly, the big Klipschorn measured even worse:

The Klipschorn's measured behavior reveals that the performance parameters that are generally held in the 21st century to correlate with good sound quality in both the time and frequency domains have been compromised to achieve that astonishingly high sensitivity. Its sound will also be heavily dependent on the amplifier with which it is driven. I don't recommend using a typical solid-state design with the Klipschorn because the region covered by the tweeter will be too hot.

Hope Danny can review the aforementioned measurements to see the uphill battle.

Good luck!!

Best,
Anand.

Had Chorus II's.  They were great.  Looking forward to see what the upgrades are.

Anand, you have to be more diplomatic as John Atkinson or I about these Big loudspeakers.

I think Danny Richie will make it no few modifications!
