Thanks!
So, who's going? I plan to be there all three days unless something major comes up.
-
I should be there Friday and Saturday.
-
I will be there Sunday
-
Probably Saturday only. Will be in Chicago for my son's rugby game on Sunday.
-
I'm going Friday. This will be my first show after 45 years in this hobby.
-
Should be there all three days. Wasn't able to catch up with many ACers last year, so hope to see lots of you there this year! Look forward to it.
-

As Michael Jackson used to sing, "I'll be theeerrrreeeeee, I'll be theeerrrreeeeee.........".
Probably on Saturday, but I am starting to feel a cold coming on for the Friday that will keep me out of work. :D
-dB (what this country needs is a stellar sub-$1k DAC)
-
I'll be.....................in Washington state wallowing in jealousy.
Hope everyone has fun! :thumb:

I'll be in both Room 308 (with BorderPatrol Audio Electronics and Volti Audio) and with fellow AC Sponsor Vinnie Rossi in nearby Room 314...
dB - if you're looking for a superb DAC (at $995), you might want to check out BorderPatrol's new DAC. It's housed in a solid copper chassis (not plated)... and sounds wonderful! It's making it's global debut at AXPONA! Gary Dews from BorderPatrol is known for his incredible power supplies & phenomenal sounding equipment...

Pete, will see you sometime during the week in Room 308. The DAC looks big-time, and I know Border Patrol doesn't release anything until it sounds sublime. Looking forward to it.

Looks like I will be DJ'ing in room 408 with Salk and Schiit Audio. I won't be in there all the time, as I hope to do some tire kicking myself, but I will be there plenty.
Make sure you speak with me. I'll be the ruggedly handsome one so easy to spot!

Great. Look forward to hearing that combo!

Anyone else going?

LampizatOr will be there in room 634 debuting our new Golden Atlantic along with our DSD Komputer. Spatial audio will also be debuting it's M3 Triode Master speakers in our room powered by Linear Tube Audio 40 OTL monoblocks all linked together with Verastarr. I hope some of my fellow ACers drop in to see us!
We'll also have one of our Golden Gate DACs in the Von Schweikert room which they'll be using to show their VSA Ultra-11 speaker system.

Looking forward to it.

I'll be around for the weekend.
FYI: I will probably bring my DIY F4 that is for sale for anyone who might be interested. (Best $300 bucks you'll ever spend 8)) I may bring some of the small signal tubes I've been trying to sell (I'll update my ad this week for those who might be interested), and I am also bringing along a box of various tube pulls--that may,or may not, be good for anything audio. I will gladly give them to any interested party for free. I just can't stand the thought of throwing them away, so if anyone wants them, just let me know.
Cheers,
gb

I'll be hanging out with the Lampizator guys, and there all weekend! Very much looking forward to it!
-
I've made it to three of the last four -bought a three day pass this year- this year looking forward to another listen to the Sweet Vinyl room. And there has always been some room that is a pleasant surprise -two years ago - the Linkweitz LXmini that Madisound was demoing was the obvious surprise ( Now I've just got to build the pair I bough the drivers/digi-crossover for.)
-
My Rack of Wonder will be in room 634, gracefully holding up all that beautiful Lampizator and Linear Tube gear. Spatial M3 Turbo S speakers with Verastarr cables will round things out nicely. Should be a must see room for sure!!!

Another week to go!
You think I should have a trunk sale :green:
-
Better get a bigger trunk!
-
I'll be there in the JTR Speakers/JRiver Media Center/High Impact AV room. It is in the Lobby Level in LaSalle Ballroom C.
There will be a multi-channel system featuring seven JTR Speakers Noesis 215RT's and a JVC DLA-RS4500 projector. There will also be a two channel system featuring the same Ferrari Red JTR Speakers Noesis 210RT's that were at RMAF in 2016.

Any recommendations for must see rooms?
-
If all goes well I hope to be there Saturday. Been awhile and this is close so I'm gonna try to make it.
-
I'll be there..
-
Anyone in the Milwaukee area headed down for the show interested in a carpool? Thanks.
-
The Schiit folks informed me the following gear will power the Song3's in room 408.
Yggdrasil dac
Bifrost Multibit dac

Freya preamp
Vidar amp

For those getting tired of string quartets and wispy female vocals...METAL LIVES AT AXPONA!!!! Room #443. Get there!
-
Thanks Ed, a place of refuge finally!
-
I was at AXPONA on Friday and thought the turnout was pretty darn high. Did anyone else feel that way? Definitely seemed like a growth from last year....and time to find a bigger hotel for 2018 (which I know they are doing).
-dB (did I win those VS speakers yet?)

OK, now you're just makin' me mad.
Only joking, hope the show is going well and those attending are having a good time. I'm thinkin' about a Pink Floyd song right now...guess which one.

No, I was thinking of "Wish You Were Here".

+1
(Looking to move to a 100% balanced system with tube magic, and as always on the frugal side.)

No, I was thinking of "Wish You Were Here".
Were you in the Odyssey Audio room when Klaus cued that one up? Of course this was after setting the ambience in the room? Thought it was 1976 again. AWESOME. 8)

No, unfortunately the reference was more literal as I am home in WA state.

Some early feedback from the chief bottle washer and cook at Part Time Audiophile... https://parttimeaudiophile.com/2017/04/21/axpona-2017-borderpatrol-triode-wire-labs-and-volti-audio/ (https://parttimeaudiophile.com/2017/04/21/axpona-2017-borderpatrol-triode-wire-labs-and-volti-audio/)
The new Volti Rivals were outstanding (dynamic, real & true!) and the new BorderPatrol DAC was phenomenal! So good that I had to order one! Can't wait!
Thanks to all who came to our room!
Cheers,
Pete

Hey BRM I would most appreciate your thoughts on that sexy  Freya
The Schiit crew is very frugal and they only put the 349 preamp and 700 dac in the room with the prototype Vidar. They never brought in the balanced preamp and kept the Iggy dac in the headphone room downstairs. I was told the single ended circuit in the balanced unit is exactly the same circuit in the single ended 349 preamp so it would sound the same.
There is no magic here. You could go buy a $150 stepped attenuator remotely controlled used volume control and probably equal what the 349 preamp does. I know we hit the limits of what the dac could achieve at 192 max capability but overall the room sounded good for a $5500 system cost.

Had a great show with lots of attendees in the JTR Speakers room all day long. Next year will be at Renaissance Hotel/Convention Center in Schaumburg (http://www.axpona.com/landing9.asp). JTR Speakers already has the Nirvana Ballroom C reserved.

Thanks BRM Wink2 :icon_arrow: :icon_frown:
BRM,
What about the Salk 3Encore? Thoughts?

I had a good time at Axpona on Sunday. It's a bit overwhelming to be there only one day because there are so many rooms to visit. It felt like there were less people on Sunday than last year and I could easily find a seat in the sweet spot in every single room I visited. How was Friday and Sat?
This year my friends and I had a relaxed approach and just walked around and enjoyed it. If the music was too loud or if the speakers were way too "sharp" in the top end we quickly left (having some ear issues and trying to be super careful). This definitely helped and made the day more enjoyable.
Met a lot of nice people, heard some great music playing on some beautiful systems and just had a really great day. Will be back next year.
